What Happened At Southside?

It seems there was a fire at Southside Elementary School last week that wasn't "significant enough" to evacuate the children. It seems that it was "significant enough" for the Fire Department to respond to it, so why was there no drill or evacuation of the building? Was there someone at the school with the qualifications to determine that there was never any danger for any student or school personnel? Why hasn't there been anything about this on the radio?
Is this another of those "little" things that if they are ignored they don't exist? Would this not have been a perfect time for a fire drill where the children and staff could have experienced evacuation under real circumstances? Oh well, maybe the next fire will be "insignificant" also.

Please allow me to be the first to ask why you are trying to stir up trouble about Southside? If you want to know why the news didn't pick up on the incident and why there was no fire drill (schools routinely have them quite often), call over to the school and ask the principal? It would have been helpful had you checked this out before attempting to sow more seeds of doubt and suspicion.

The question is why wasn't this news event reported by the local media?
Why do we have to rely on Mr Barrett to tell us about school employees not being paid on time, fires at school and who nos what else. I'm beginning to think the onluy way to find out anything around this place is to be at Hardee's in the mornings or read this blog. If the media had reported this maybe it wouldn't have even been necessary to be put on this blog.

It's not that he puts information about the event on the blog. That is fine. Even admirable, when he bothers to be accurate. The problem is when Old Sparky gives us his wisdom of how to (or in this case, how not to) respond to the situation. That's just grandstanding and, as usual, the wrong judgment of what to do.

Barrett is right this should have been on the radio and there should have been a drill in conjunction with the fire. Common sense tells you that the best learning system is to drill under the most realistic conditions possible.
Because you say it was a grass fire don't make it so, I think i'll wait for a better authority than someone whose to afraid to sign their name to what they say.

I just don't understand your thinking WAB. What start somthing when there is nothing. Yes there was a grass fire to the southwest of the school. The fire department responded in a timely fashion and the fire was put out in just a short time. School officials were present standing by in the event evacuation was needed. However, at no time were there any students in danger. The fire was never close to the school structure. Thanks but please get the facts straight. I'm sure the fire department and school officials will tell you the same information.

But they did have a fire drill the next day. Strange. Why were the parents notified that they could come and get there child or the child could ride the bus. NO mater what there should have been a fire drill. It's bad enough the inside of the school has toxic carbonmonoxide and nothing is being done. Some rooms have levels of 2400 when 1000 is av.

You are right, but barrett just loves to keep something stirred up. Then someone said it seemed strange that the school had a fire drill the next day. What better time could there have been to hold a drill while the grass fire was still fresh in the children's minds?

Gee, I wonder how fast a grass fire can move and get out of controll.
How did the fire start? I have personal seen grass fires cover 20 acres in less than 20 minutes. I also saw a little grass fire burn up a house and barn while the fire department was watching and trying to control it. Sometimes grass fires are more hard to control than a house fire.

You say grow up to me but you are the one lacking maturity. Stop protecting your kin and friends. Open your eyes, be personally responsible and do your own research. Here is a tall task for you...be objective. Forget what you or others may stand to lose, whether it be money, reputation, job or whatever and see the facts as they are. That is one thing some are not willing to do in this county and it always seems to be those who are wrapped tightly with those officials and employees being questioned. Stop the insanity of denying the truth. The truth eventually comes out and then you have to suffer the embarrassment of covering up the truth, which is also very prevalent here. There are a number of laws that are violated in this county. If you closely followed what goes on in this county and new what laws are established for our county to follow, you wouldn't have to ask me that. So that leads me to believe you are as lost as last year's Easter egg. It isn't my job to educate you on local government. No one educated me. I took personal responsibility and educated myself. It really isn't that hard. Unfortunately, you and others don't wish to know the truth because you can't handle knowing those you so desperately support are not doing their job. You do a lot of talking but I would be willing to wage that you wouldn't know what laws and their content exist in this county if they fell from the sky and landed on your head.

Because when I start to get specific, some toes will surely be stepped on. To 4:14 I'm not 7:05 and you seem to have ignored 11:29 when they were specific but I'll try and enlighten you if possible.

T.C.A. 2-5-204 (a) Requires that a written request be submitted from anyone wishing to have their name removed from a ballot they have qualified to be included on. During the August election Mrs. Bassham as the supervisor of elections permitted a candidate from the 7th District, Mrs. Coleman, to "withdraw" from the school board ballot without a written request to withdraw.

T.C.A. 2-5-101-(3) (c) Clearly requires that Nomination Petitions for candidates have twenty-five signatures of registered voters who are eligible to vote in the district the candidate is seeking a position in.
Mrs. Bassham as the supervisor of elections permitted a candidate from the 7th District, Mrs. Coleman, to be placed on the ballot without the required number of appropriate signatures.

Chapter 22 of the CTAS Manual addresses the issue of the state OPEN MEETINGS ACT (SUNSHINE LAW)
T.C.A. 8-44-101 et seq. Requires that –ALL--- meetings of any governing body are public meetings and must be open to the public at all times. That public notice of all regular and special meetings must be given.
This law was violated when the County Executive and some County Commissioners discussed the assignment of commissioners to the various committees, both in person and by electronic means.

Chapter 2 of the CTAS Manual under duties of the County Legislative Body states “The budget adopted by the County Legislative Body must be balanced, meaning that estimated revenues must at least equal the amounts appropriated plus any reserves required by state law.”
The County Budget has not been balanced by revenues for at least the past four years including 2010-2011. Almost six million dollars of reserves have been used in each of the past four budgets to meet expenditures.

These are but a few of the specific examples you asked for, there are many more but space is limited and it’s doubtful that you will bother to read beyond my name.

Thursday, October 07, 2010 6:26:00 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

That all you got???? Let's see. A court of law said you were wrong on the first 2. You fail to offer any proof on number 3. And reserves can be used to balance a budget, negating your 4th assertion.

Keep trying Buddy.

To 6:33 You asked for some specifics and I gave them now you want to change the subject. First of all the judge agreed that the law was broken in both situations and I have the transcript to prove it. The only thing he disagreed with was whether there should be a correction or penalty to the violations.
You can not legally and ethically use reserves to balance the budget. Reserves can be used to cover some of the shortfall when revenue estimates are not met but not to create an impression of a balanced budget.
To 8:09 I think everyone in the election office knows where the court is by now, it cost about three hundred dollars to file so have at it, but remember filling against the truth is a frivolous lawsuit. I do not foresee any legal challenge to anything I posted .

My Teacher at GCHS Mr. Anderson taught us that being ordinary was no real accomplishment merely the mark of a lazy person. Our nation was not made great by ordinary people but extraordinary people who were willing to take chances, make sacrifices and contributions toward a better existance. If everyone was satisfied to be ordinary, pay their taxes and follow the rules everyone would still be in Mesopotamia. No one would have ever come to America, we would all still be a colony of England, we would have no cars, TV's, electricity and on and on.

I think it would be very boring to only be ordinary, to never step out of our box and become something greater and better than what everyone else is. There would be no Super Bowl or World Series if everyone was satisfied to just be ordinary. I may be idealistic but I was taught that our basic responsibility is to follow the rules and pay our taxes, it takes extra ordinary men and women to make sure those rules are applied equally and taxes are used properly.

Look, I believe you knew precisely what I meant by stating that I am the ordinary or typical or average citizen. You can go back and tell Mr. Anderson that I too believe one should always strive for personal excellence and not be satified with being acverage when one has the ability to strive forward. Being a good or aqverage citizen in and of itself does NOT make one ordinary or mediocre. Perhaps you simply misunderstood. And I certainly hope I am misunderstanding you if you are attempting to portray allen barrett as extraordinary in terms of greatness. He is definitely out of his box on a lot of things, but that by no means makes him great.

You're the one who stated, "I'm just an ordinary citizen..."
Then you jump Mary Margaret accusing her of "you knew precisely what I meant by stating that I am the ordinary... citizen".
Here's the thing, words have meaning and when you use them to communicate people come to understand the conversation based on the words you actually use, not what you might secretly mean. So when you describe yourself with the adjective "ordinary" most people would understand that you are describing yourself as "of no special quality or interest; commonplace; unexceptional; plain; undistinguished; somewhat inferior or below average; mediocre."
It is not Mary Margaret's fault or anyone else other than yours that you fail to make yourself clear. Don't use words you have no understanding of and don't blame others because of your shortcomings or ordinary being.

11:14, I think you got that wrong, it was rabid or the perfect one thought he or she was smart as God.
She always has a come back no matter what Barrett says.

Don't cause trouble and strife, yes you do every time you post on here. Some post you are the first to pop off just to get something started.

You think Jesus wants you to do what you do, but I don't think so.
You just go wild when you see WAB's name.

Some things might be ok, but you go overboard.

No, while you continue to cheerlead for the biggest troublemaker I've ever seen (my opinion), I remain committed to pointing out how evil and mean it is to do so.

To wab,I would have thought since you are a military man you would know what a dril is.Look it up.I can't see a need for a drill except for training purposes. It was obvious that the fire was no danger and it was safer to keep the kids inside and not scare them or the parents. What if there was an alarm for no reason and someone was hurt or kiled in their haste to get to the school. It would have been nice to have had a drill on 9/11 or at the OKC bombing the way you look at it. Why don't you get your butt out from the front of your face, for a while and look at things with some common sense? Also I think you have fallen out of the tree again and hit you head. Why don't wait for the leaves to get on the ground before you try to rake them. The school leaders are smart enough to make decisions, and it looks like they made a good one since everything was handled safely.

Maybe the maggots finally did eat the "lying dead parisite",.That is not name calling as he puts it.He called someone that in a former blog and then will say he does not do name calling.Maybe the maggots did get to Jackson Drive and followed the odor to his dead brain.Just maybe he is out doing a fire drill he sure lights enough fires.... jerry

Once again you prove either your inability to read or be truthful.
I have never called anyone a "lying dead parasite", I did however refer to you as a lying brain dead parasite
not in an effort to merely call you a name but to simply describe your condition. Your behavior is that of an enabler of wrongdoing.

I had never posted anything on this site until this week.So how can you know me well enough to pass judgement? If you would get the plank out of your eye before you put your evil hands in someone elses eye to get a speck out,we would all see better.

I didn't write 9:06, but I am the one you like to lie about when you call me an enabler of wrong. Stop lying and causing trouble.
Looks like 1:28 has about as much respect for you as I do.

Going back to the orignal post. It was a grass fire which was in the county and the city fire responded and put it out only about 1/4-1/2 acre. and it was caused by some down power lines. now if they would have evacuated the school the kids would have been in danger. The admin. of the school made the right choice. Some people get there panties in a bunch over something small.

The way I'm reading some of these post makes me wonder if it was left on.

I agree 7:09. The grass fire was not even on school property. It was on Mr. Wakefield's property. The PFD responded because the call came in as being on school property. They went ahead and put the fire out since they were already there. City Fire does not respond to grass fires in the county unless under contract and only to protect structures. There was no structures in danger The children were not in danger at any time. No big deal! Not a big news item. If it had been on shcool property and the structure had been in danger it would have been on the news and the front page of the paper. I know what I'm talking about. I WAS THERE!

There have been grass fires on the front page before that did not involve any buildings or danger to people.

Was surprised to hear on WKSR the grass fires that were fought over the weekend and all this time I thought they didn't report grass fires that did not involve structures. Guess Barrett got another one right and the whining enabler missed another one.

I don't know Barrett, but neither do I know Janet or Vicki, but think Barrett needs a defender too.

Barrett does tell us what is going on.

Janet and Vicki's defender tells us nothing except how she feels about Barrett. Same thing over and over and over.

Wrong. The one you call enabler is the one who is quite comfortable with being a man. Those like you are the 0ones who get into all this gender confusion when you have been told repeatedly that he is a combat veteran and a man.
As for a bom, I think Clay McAlister is about to drop one on wab.

Ok Clay go ahead and drop it.
We've been waiting a long time.

It will be good to see it in the newspaper and not have to read the great defender's smart remarks.

Mr. McAlister has (my opinion)every right to sue allen barrett for defammation of character and for mental anguish. I think the Nashville television station that came down here and did the story should come back and do a retraction once Mr. McAlister's name is cleared.

As the saying goes you can sue a ham sandwich if you want to. All you got to do is put your money on the counter of the Court and away you go. I guess while I'm waiting I'll go back out and enjoy this 85 degree sun by the pool and worry after I get old and sitting in a rocker.

Then I would suggest that you enjoy your pool while you still own it. I hear Mr. McAlister has you on this one.

First of all unless I am mistaken it was the police that made the decision to arrest McAllister not Barrett. Second McAllister would be wise to let the matter play itself out before he engages you as his attorney.

Put yourself in Mr. McAlister's position. Would you allow your character to be defamed and just let it play itself out? Don't forget that even the television statios 9at least one of them0 came down here to do a story on the situation.

I doubt McAlister are anybody else could haul Barrett anywhere he didn't want to go. And old saying about don't grab a tiger unless you're sure you can turn it loose is something you might want to think about before you tangle with Barrett.

The only person that can delete a post on this blog is me. I have only deleted a small number and they are clearly identified as having been deleted. Why would I delete my own post instead of just not saying anything.
How could you possibly know what my attorney has said or not said to me about anything unless you are either me or the attorney? Oh I forgot you aren't just the enabler of wrong doing you also believe you are all knowing.
I don't even have an attorney to deal with the sign thief and I have deleted none of my own postings.
