The subject of collective bargaining has become a hot topic around the nation these days. In Wisconsin the government has basically been shut down by politicians, too cowardly to face the responsibility of casting a vote, greedy union thugs, wannbe hippies looking to justify their laziness and government workers who have lived too large on the backs of other peoples productivity.
It's very hard for most of us who live in so called "right to work states" to understand that in union controlled states either you join the union or you don't get a job. It's very much like many of the totalitarian governments that have been established you didn't have to join the nazi party, the communist party, the socialist democrat party, etc you just couldn't work and make a living for your family. You didn't have to vote for the party nominee your alternative was to stay at home and not vote.
Here's the problem with the situation in Wisconsin and many other states, basically the union has sat on both sides of the bargaining table then the final approval was made by politicians that were in line for huge donations from those same unions.
That's worked until the money ran out. Now Gov. Scott Walker has said enough is enough if there is to be a future for those in Wisconsin the budget must be brought under control. Gov. Walker has become a hero to many including me as he has stood firm against the union thugs from within his state and those imported from other areas. It is reminiscent of President Reagan standing up to the air traffic controls who went on an illegal strike.
Folks the money has run out in Wisconsin, Indiana, Illinois, New York, California and Tennessee including Giles County.
The time has come, actually it's long past, that those elected into and appointed into leadership positions act like leaders. Cut the fat, the waste and the unnecessary and make budgets that are responsible.
I apologize for the incomplete and inaccurate posting of the first draft for this topic. Those elected to and appointed into leadership positions are, in my opinion, acting responsibly. It's my understanding that all departments were asked to and have trimmed budgets. It's not their fault that operational costs continue to escalate, and I believe it's unfair to accuse them of being somehow inept and irresponsible. My opinion differs from yours, and that makes neither of us right or wrong.

In Wisconsin, the state workers, police, teachers and other workers have all agreed to help with reducing the deficit by paying more towards benefits. The problem is that the governor and state legislators want to dismantle collective bargaining. Collective bargaining has helped teachers in TN by allowing them duty free lunch time and a planning period during the day. Collective bargaining also protects workers from over zealous politicians, administrators and leaders.

I appreciate and agree with you that opinions are clearly just that and because they may differ does not make one more or less right than the other.
However it is not opinion but fact written in the Giles County Budget that every single department other than the Highway Department either increased their budgets or kept the same amount last year while claiming to have reduced them by 10%.
I gave these examples at the time of the difference in the budget for 2009- 2010 and the 2010-2011 budgets. The County Executives Office while claiming more than a 10% reduction went from $138,723.00 in the amended 2009/2010 budget to $140,723.00 in the 2010/2011 budget. The County Commission went from $44,207.00 in the amended 2009/2010 budget to $52,395.00 in the 2010/2011 budget.
Even with the creative math being used in Washington, DC you can't make a 10% cut with those numbers.

Excuse me, he tripled the national debt and raised taxes 11 times while in office. He also granted amnesty to 3 million illegal immigrants.
Reagan also had a democrat led House and Senate who spent money on everything but keeping peace in the Middle East. Amnesty was granted and it proved to be a terrible thing so why are the democrats pushing for it now?

As far as I'm concern you can say what ever you want to about Regan and Obama. They put them self in a place for people to talk about them and watch everything they do just like the officials in Giles County. So live with it. No need to be defense.

If an Employer can afford to pay higher wages or improve anyone's working conditions, he has the right to do so as well. There is no union who can force any employer to do otherwise.
If any employee or labor union thinks otherwise; then ask yourself just why we've lost so many mfg jobs to foreign country's in the past 30 years? And why do we have so many Mexicans coming here to work, and being hired I might add?
GOVERNMENT WORKER UNIONS SHOULD NOT HAVE COLLECTIVE BARGAINING, Simply because of the corruption it has created between the UNIONS and THE POLITICIANS, who give the Unions whatever they ask for, so that they can have their money to support their candidacy.
All these concessions by made between politicians and the public sector unions are nothing but money laundering schemes, to transfer tax payer dollars to Democrat candidates, and you and I have been footing the bill for this mess for too long.

One of the major problems that seems to exist today especially with many born in the sixties and later is the idea that they are entitled to a job at a very high wage and their productivity is secondary to their desires, needs and interest.
Some don't even feel the necessity to work at all choosing instead to rely on the largesse of government to provide for them. This attitude comes with an incredibly high price.
Some politicians and community organizers have been quick to recognize and exploit this situation. They have re-created the education system into an instrument
better suited to propaganda than cognitive development. Above all else, parents seem, by their example, to have failed teaching their children to be responsible and self reliant.
I fear the "greatest generation" has birthed increasingly weaker generations who no longer can accurately distinguish between a right and a privilege, a freedom and a responsibility, nor have the fortitude to properly protect either.
Without a healthy respect toward our responsibilities and the integrity to pursue those responsibilities our futures are as bleak as the Hebrews in Egypt the year before the Exodus.

But you want to know who's really to blame here? All of us! First for demanding all the cheap mess we so happily buy from Wal Mart, and 2nd for supporting high paid idiots known as politicians who tell us we have a RIGHT to demand free Health care or free anything.

But allow me to respectively correct your premise of the quote you cited. Head swelling is generally the result of brain swelling, which of course is often caused by brain injury, or in some cases,it has basis in congenital miladies and other defects.
Arrogance is generally caused by allusions of self importance resulting in elitism, and has no basis in reality at all.
And both can be experienced by liberals as well as conservatives. But studies have proven that liberals seem to be effected more by elitism than any other segment of society.
And since it's impossible to use rational arguments based in facts when engaging those of the liberal mind, I like to fight fire with fire: so to speak.
