Naming Bridges, Roads, Bridges and Buildings

What should be the criteria for naming Bridges, Roads, Ball fields and Buildings in the county?

How about not naming them. That way there is no confusion about the criteria. What happens when they all have names and someone wants to name one after me. My feelings would be hurt.I think Anonymous would make a great name for a bridge.

Criteria was set by the highway dept a few years back for naming bridges. Are they now not sticking to the criteria?

What if there are no bridges left to name after Mr. Barrett? What will we do then? Maybe Mr. Clay will have one built for him. Let's file a suit on that issue.

8:43 That want be any problem. Today if they want the name of a bridge or road changed they just change it. The person it was named after has been dead so long they think it's alright to change the name.

Have you seen any sign that said the Will C. Vaughn bridge use to be there. He was instrumental in getting that bridge built across Richland Creek on HWY 11.
C. E. Deprist got this last bridge built there. Maybe Barrett can get a new one built there and they can name it after him.

That WAS NOT Mrs. Vanzant's fault!

Would his bridge be on the National
Historic Places list as soon as he builds it? Mill street is a good place for it, since he has been known to hang out there.

11:27 Have you noticed the sign "Historical Site" on the other side of Deprist Bridge?

I honestly had people to ask me if that was because of the sign deal.
I thought they were crazy to think that.
That was one of the corners of Old Pulaski town. There is another one at corner of 31 and 31A. Not sure where the other two are.

If they name a bridge for Barrett will the Hunter Smith Building be renamed the Vanzant Towers?

Can't you just lay the jealousym resentment, and hatred aside and stop drinking a troublemaker's kool-aid? Wouldn't it be better to harmony and peace?

The problem with harmony and peace is they come at too great a cost sometimes. You would stand tall in the eyes of Neville Chamberlain who gave Hitler Czechoslovakia for peace
on paper, unfortunately that peace not only cost the Czechs their country but also the lives of the unacceptable who lived there.

What you said about former Prime Minister Chamberlain reminds me somewhat of you guys' making such a big deal about your speaking at business meetings. Initially, they did allow you, for the sake of peace, to speak, but that didn't work out so well. Consequently, county government realized they had made a mistake, but it was too late. Now it seems the county has lost a lot of taxpayer money and has experienced turmoil and division as a result of trying to keep peace with you. Just my opinion.
You may see yourself as a martyr for the average citizen. Thanks, but no thanks.

7:10 you are wrong and the whole problem came from them not letting Mr Barrett, or anyone else who might be critical of them, speak. If the county would follow the law there would be no turmoil as you call it, if they followed the law the taxpayers would be out nothing only gains. If you think you speak for the average citizen think again below average people can only speak for below average people.

Wrong. All I have heard people say about this little group of quarrelsome people is not good. But I won't go into that with you. We don't need these people trying to speak for us. Trust me, they are a very very distinct moinority of Giles Countians.

12:26 Who needs you or Barrett speaking for them.
Barrett comes out in public speaking and you hide on this blog trying to speak for the people.

Maybe we need a vote from the whole county on it.

I might ask you the same question. It seems I spend a lot of my time responding to your little barns. You know resentment, jealousy, and hatred and vile character traits. Can you lay them aside? I doubt it but thought I'd ask anyway.

8:19 Everyone working 35 hours and taking pay for 40 hours is taking money under false pretenses.
Did you think how stupid your idea was when you wrote it or is it just that liberal mentality coming through. Do you really think you can correct the problem by having others, those paying taxes to pay these people, volunteer to work those five hours and that will some how make up for the regular workers getting paid for the extra five hours without actually working them? I bet Ronald Reagan would be shock at you.
I know this may sound a little old fashioned but how about you earn your pay by doing the work, if paid for 40 hours then work 40 hours. Wonder how many at Frito Lay are getting paid for five hours they don't work? I'm sure Wal Mart is paying everyone for five hours they don't work.

I know that. It was a typo that I made and corrected at 12:07. Do you have anything you want to discuss or would you prefer continuing this trouble and strife?
If you will look at your keyboard you will find that the N key is right beside the B. Take a look for yourself. Please don't take my word for it.

7:38 It looked like your post of barbs was made to 8:20 is why I called your attention to the word.
Like they had said it wrong.
I went back before posting to be sure you did say barns instead of barbs in first post.

There would be less trouble and strife if you didn't get so angry.
Maybe you wouldn't hit the wrong key.
