President or King

President -  an official chosen to preside over a meeting or                                 assembly; an appointed governor of a subordinate political unit.

King -  a male monarch;  a paramount chief

Basically a  president presides over while a king rules over. A president presides over a government of laws and is subject to those laws while a king makes laws to be imposed on others.

The question is do we now have a king in Washington D.C. or a president.

Clearly the current chief of state has exempted himself and his family and friends from the rule of law as imposed by the constitution.

Examples of this:

Stopping all drilling in the Gulf of Mexico by this country even after a federal judge ruled the order was illegal

Ordering all insurance companies to provide free birth control including abortions to all women.

Ordering what foods individuals are free to eat, while they feast on Kobe steaks and huge platters of ribs.

Refusing to abide by a budget as required by the Constitution,

Ordering Religious institutions to do things against their most basic religious beliefs and practices.

Taking money from some private institutions and giving it to favored private institution that gave huge amounts of money for his election.

Taking money from private individuals and giving it to unions then using taxpayer money to bail out two auto companies then give one company to a foreign auto company.

Taking money from responsible home owners and using it to bailout
deadbeats and people who over bought.

There are many more examples but you should see the picture by now.

When the Revolution was over and we had won our independence from England George Washington was approached with the idea of being the king of this new land, he rejected the idea choosing instead to serve eight years as president. This was the pattern until Roosevelt took control but even he was held to the Constitution. Today Obama has exceeded his authority and acted as a king with hardly an eyebrow being raised.

at first I thought this was a joke but as i read it it made more and more sense. Obama is acting like a king and above the law while his wife tells everybody else what to eat she is eating everything.

WE moved here to get away from the King---how about we take our Counttry back...it's not to be ruled by a King. What? the secrete service will take someone away for stating the facts? Probably so at some point if we don't elect a new head of state---eventually he''ll just say "off with their heads" if he keeps going unchecked

The sad thing is that his followers are like sheep who will follow him regardless of what he is doing to our nation. I see them as mentally lazy.
I once heard someone say that voters should not be allowed to vote if they don't have a certain level of intelligence and/or political awareness. I wonder? Throwing out an entitlement bone every now and then for their votes makes those people look quite stupid. Sadder yet is that there are enough of them out there to elect presidents.

7:19 I appreciate your story and agree that person would need and deserve help. The question is for how long should that person be helped, until they were back on their feet and able to do for himself or should we take care of him for the rest of his life and sacrifice our own family's well being? Another question is how could we best help that person, by fixing his roof, providing food, shelter and other essentials or by supplying him with drugs for the rest of his life because his leg hurts, pay all his bills, provide him with food for life, a cell phone to call his dealer, provide an almost free house and give him free money to spend as he chooses?
My point is there comes a time when everyone needs some kind of help and for the most part family and friends have an obligation to provide that help. In some circumstances the government should provide a portion of that help. In all cases only the most severely handicapped should be considered for lifetime help. Most disabled people should be evaluated periodically to determine if they continue to be disabled and what if anything has been done to remove/improve the disability.
To me a lifetime disability for drug/alcohol abuse is absurd. Welfare should be temporary and determined by whether a person is preparing themselves for work. If jobs are scarce let them work for the county/city or volunteer in health/educational institutions until a regular job is obtained. Six hours of pushing a broom is far better than six hours of watching TV and it helps teach work ethics, responsibility and builds pride and self confidence.
A hand up always but no eternal handouts.

The problem is that there are enough uneducated and welfare dependent in this country to get Obama re-elected. And many of these people will vote for him because he has a darker skin tone or simply because he is a Democrat. It's pathetic.
Where are all the Christians and Catholics in this matter? There should be enough of them out there to see Obama soundly defeated. Where are they? I will tell you. Many of them will vote for Obama because of his race and because they (those voters) will vote for Democrats, regardless of what they stand for. I know, because I go to church with people like that who will vote for pro-abortion and pro-gay marriage candidates. The irony of it all is that these are the same people who will say "amen" when the preacher mentions that the killing of the innocent and men lying with men are wrong. Go figure. Does their political party take precendence over God's word? It apparently does.

One last thing,4:53, and then i'll let you get back to flipping burgers. You need to brush up on your math a bit. In the United States, the term is an offshoot of the phrase, "wall of separation between church and state," as written in Thomas Jefferson's letter to the Danbury Baptist Association in 1802. I went to Beech Hill, but that's closer to 200 yrs than 50 or 60.Just trying to help you be factual. Peace out

Blogger Allen Barrett said...

As you probably know there was a series of letters between Mr. Jefferson and the Danbury Association not just the one you mentioned.
While Mr. Jefferson may have been the first to write the phrase that has come to be known as the doctrine of "separation of church and state" it wasn't until 1947 that the term took on an air of legality and that may have been what one writer was referring to, certainly I'm only guessing at that.
In 1947 the Supreme Court declared that "The 1st Amendment has erected a wall of separation between church and state. That wall must be kept high and impregnable. We could not approve the slightest breach".

If you are a student of history you will know that Jefferson was the first Anti- Federalist elected president. This was greatly welcomed by the Baptist who had suffered rather severely from the centralized power held by non Baptist. Jefferson had spoken boldly in favor of placing limits on government powers.
Members of the Danbury Association were very concerned with religious freedoms. They believed that because the Constitution included the phrase, "free exercise of religion" some might take that to mean the right to religious freedom was government given instead of God given. The fear was that if the government was able to give then the government was thus able to take away or limit.
Jefferson understood and shared their fear and concerns. Jefferson made many statements about the Constitutional prohibition against the federal government to restrict, limit or in any way interfere with religious expressions. In Jefferson's 2nd inaugural in 1805 he stated, "In matters of religion, I have considered that its free exercise is placed by the Constitution independent of the powers of the general (federal) government". In a letter to Samuel Millar in 1808 Jefferson wrote, "I consider the government of the United States as interdicted (prohibited) by the Constitution from intermeddling with religious institutions or exercises".
Jefferson, having witnessed the abusive practice of giving preference to certain religions over others, had absolutely no intentions of allowing the government to limit, interfere, or regulate public religious practices. Along with most of the other founders he believed that the First Amendment had been enacted ONLY to prevent the government from forming a national denomination, such as is being attempted today with the secular humanist environmentalist movement.
So when Jefferson replied to the Danbury Baptist Association in January 1802, his short comment was to assure them that they need not have any fear, that the free exercise of religion would never be interfered with by the federal government.
He wrote in that now famous letter, "Gentlemen, The affectionate sentiments of esteem and approbation which you are so good as to express towards me on behalf of the Danbury Baptist Association give me the highest satisfaction... Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between man and his God; that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship; that the legislative powers of government reach actions only and not opinions, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should "make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof," thus building a wall of separation between and State. Adhering to this expression of supreme will of the nation in behalf of the rights of conscience, I shall see with sincere satisfaction the progress of those sentiments which tend to restore to man all his natural rights, convinced he has no natural right in opposition to his social duties. I reciprocate your kind prayers, for the protection and blessing of the common Father and Creator of man, and tender you for yourselves and your religious association assurances of my high respect and esteem." Part One

Tuesday, March 06, 2012 7:27:00 PM
Blogger Allen Barrett said...

Part Two

So basically it is safe to say that while Jefferson advocated a "wall of separation between church and state it was solely for the protection of the church from interference by the state and not the government from religious beliefs and activities. Today the phrase has come to mean the exact opposite of what Jefferson the founders and the courts all saw it's meaning to be.
In another statement Jefferson wrote, "Can the liberaties of a nation be thought secure if we have lost the only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are the gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath."
Today we are witness to the reality of this very fear of Jefferson coming alive.
