Great attitude 11:42 and 9:53. It seems you are the ones that started the nonsense on this post. You accuse others of hate while spreading hate yourself. Maybe the best thing for the both of you is to ignore the blog all together since you have absolutely nothing to add except stupid irrelevant posts that show your true hateful nature. Merry Christmas

Since 8:33's comment had nothing to do with the post and was directed to those it spews hatred toward in every post 8:33 started this mess.8:33 could have chosen to wish every one a Merry Christmas but decided to attack and then speaks of God. What a joke. Maybe 8:33 should practice what they preach instead of do as I say not as I do. Merry Christmas.

Someone has to be first to stop this foolishness, but you sure don't mean to be the first.

You know, jealousy and resentment are very contagious things and it seems you have been sorely infected.

NO ONE refers to themselves as a 'gentleman' but would use the term 'male'. As to whether or not you are a Christian is for someone else to decide. In the past you have not demonstration your behavior as that of a Christian.

You assume I am a jealous person, resentful and full of hate - not so. Most everyone I know would disagree with you. As to joining you in your efforts, I have to decline as you have proved not to be trusted in the past. Sorry.

You judge my Christianity harshly, but that's ok. I know who I am.
I didn't say for a fact that YOU personally are filled with jealousy and resentment. I said it seems you are and that those two "qualities" are contagious.
Oh, I am quite sincere in my efforts to see that all this hate-mongering ceases. Even a self-proclaimed man of God should see that as a worthy endeavor.

It's not being jealousy or hating to not like what some say. If it is it fits the C. G. as well as others.

C. G. says he will be hear as long as the hate, jealousy, and name calling goes on.
It looks like someone or more will be here as long as C. G. post with what others think is hateful or spite. So guess this will just have to go on and on. It sure does sound like children. No one is big enough to stop. This next is not scoffing at religion it's just saying it would be the christian thing to do is stop this foolishness.

No, it's really not necessarily jealousy or hatred to dislike what some people say. Similarly, even Christ Himself hated every false way. That's in the Bible. I intensely dislike name-calling and attempts to belittle others. Do you think Christ approves of that?
Yes, I suppose this will just go on and on, and I do agree that it is a bunch of foolishness. However, the name-callers and troublemakers should not be allowed to go unchallenged in what they do. And therein lies the rub; they just didn't think anyone would take issue with them on this blog.

5:41
Wrong. You did question my faith, but that's ok. I don't have to prove anything to you. Why is it absurd to call myself a Christian? Even the blogmaster makes that same claim, but you want to criticize me. What about his behavior? Would you call the way he treats others Christ-like?

there you go again changing the post to your attack on Barrett so I will post my question one more time so that any one that has information may post the status of the actions the commissioners, minus Terry Harwell of course, are taking due to Mrs. Garners flagrant disrespect for the local rules that apply to her office and the handling of funds.

Since Mrs. Vanzant condones superseding written law on whims that is the last place to call to find accurate information on the subject.

I hope all the commissioners that are not employees of Mrs. Garner and do not have a conflict of interest do the right thing and do not sweep this under the rug. A lesson needs to be sent that if you take a public job you are accountable to the public and expected to follow the rules that have been put in place.

While the commissioners are at it they should investigate the application process and if it was cut short in order for Commissioner Harwell to be put in the position.

I don't think it is a cheap shot to state fact. He is a County Commissioner, he does have a conflict of interest in any disciplinary actions, if any, the commission may deem necessary to take against the office of Financial management. It has been reported that the submission process was cut short from what was advertised in the paper.
We know from Mrs. Garner's own letter in the paper that if she deems it necessary, no matter what rules are in place, she will break the rules in the future.

As a tax paying citizen I want the county commissioners to do the right thing. Can Terry be included in the decision making process of the commissioners? If he is then that is a true conflict of interest that can not be denied.

So I do hope the rest of the commissioners do not let this go with out consequences. Have they done any thing to prevent the actions of Mrs. Garner from being repeated.

The hospital money never should of been where Mrs.Garner could use it.

I didn't see it taking a cheap shot at Terry Harwell not wanting him to vote on it. It wouldn't be right to ask him to vote against his boss. He could get her job if she is dismissed and then she would be mad because he voted against her.

Look, even if Terry Harwell stepped down form his elected position it doesn't mean allen barrett will be appointed. Forget about that. And he darn sure won't be elected as a commissioner anytime soon.

I have never made my paycheck in this county although I have been qualified and in many cases overly qualified for many jobs I have applied for in this county. I then drive to Franklin and get hired right away because I am hired for my qualifications as opposed to who I know or who I am related to. I also make a lot more per hour in Franklin for working a similar job in Franklin as opposed to Giles County. That is how this county works.

If you can't stay with the topic due to being an ignorant moron then please start your own blog so you can communicate with other ignorant people that don't have a clue about what is being said. On here Mr. Barrett is trying to start conversations about intelligent topics, but it's hard to participate when someone wants to start bashing. What's wrong with your statement is that you started with a negatively charged assumption and applied it to everyone.
"My prayer is that the hate-mongering, name-calling, and such will stop and that we can begin to treat each other as God would have us to do."
Just because you believe that "hate mongering, name calling and such" exist doesn't make it so and certainly it does nor apply to everyone. Many of us already treat others as we believe God intends and certainly do not need instructions from anyone who has demonstrated a lack of Christian values in their own postings.
While I did not post until now I was certainly offended by your narrow minded assumption as were others apparently.

Now, would you be so kind as to answer my question. What was wrong with my prayer for Giles County for this new year?

4:09
You bet I did, but it was not negative. My prayer is that the hate-mongering, name-calling, and such will stop and that we can begin to treat each other as God would have us to do. That was NOT an indictment on everyone, including you. It was directed at those who are involved in it.
It's unfortunate that you are offended by my prayer for Giles County.

Guess we're not suppose to believe him, but the Christian

Barrett had a right to wish everyone Merry Christmas. Maybe he is trying to turn over a new leaf. Would you allow him to?

Why do you continue to make light of my religious convictions? I should just let it go and consider the source, but I can't do that. The irony of it is that you are so eager to defend one who doesn't seem bothered at all by mischief totally unbecoming of a Christian.
Of course, barrett had a right to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, and I had just as much right to offer a prayer that the hate-mongering, name-calling, and such stop and that we begin to treat each other as God would have us to do. Do you find that amusing as well? Would you mind explaining to me what was so wrong with the prayer I offered?
Lastly, I hope he is turning over a new leaf. I really hope he will do that.

8:56
Get over what? I never tried to elevate myself over anyone. I have stated previously that I am a sinner who need's God's grace every day of my life. We all do.
I simply stated that my prayer is that the hate-mongering, name-calling, and such stop and that we begin to treat each other as God would have us to do.
You see nothing Christian about me? Thank God you will never be my judge. Do you see anything Christian about calling names and hurting others?

Why is it that when someone does not agree with another's opinion they are tagged as being non-Christian? and, the person making this statement declares themself as being Christian?

It is really amazing to me that some of the people who write on all of these blogs use Christ as their justification that only they are right.

I would imagine that if we had the opportunity to live during the life of Christ, he would admit that he too made mistakes, he too did not agree with everyone, and that all people have the right to experss their individual opinion without invoking his (Christ's) name. As a matter of opinion I believe that if Christ were here today, he would politely ask that he be kept out of this childish bickering.

I now await for someone to delcare that I am not Christian.

Trust me; I see myself in the mirror every day, and I don't always like the man I see there. Just like you, I am a fallible human being who admits that he makes his share of mistakes. However, I ask forgiveness for them. And God doesn't call me names or try to belittle me when I do.

This IS a free speech blog, and you and I need to accept the fact that we hold differing views about things. That's OK. So I offer you an olive branch.
Secondly, I am a Christian and, although imperfect in many ways, do not appreciate your sarcastic remarks about it.
Lastly, I do believe that you and I can both see that Giles County would be much better off if people could simply lay aside the bickering and strive to live together in peace.

The problem stems from an individual/s hatred of people that question our local governments' actions when they are blatantly going against written laws, rules and procedures. Are some of us critical of some of the actions of some members of our local government? Yes we are but we feel that it is our right to question and there are those that begin there attacks against any one for posting a question and then it escalates.
If you are not being antagonistic and do not have a factual answer, as opposed to posting opinions or orders, then not posting at all would be the biggest help in alleviating the escalation of attacks against one another.

I do not think there is one person on here that cares who is Christian or not but we get tired of hearing about it when it has nothing to do with the post. In my personal experience here in Giles County I have found when some one walks up and announces to you they are a good Christian man that you had better keep an eye on them because usually they are far from it. That is my personal experience in Giles County. Maybe it is the attitude that God will forgive them but it seems that many do not make an effort to do right by their fellow man. Simply stating they are Christian seems to be the extent of their faith.

While those feel that questioning the government is bickering and some type of grasp for power and continue to personally attack those that wish to be informed of the reasons of the actions of our government I am sorry but this blog is doomed to be filled with the personal attacks against one another.

I agree that we all have a right to question government, but the problem I have is when a few individuals resort to calling names and accusing our elected officials of all manner of things from dishonesty to incompetence. Those things take it to a level well beyond questioning and breed attitudes of anger, distrust and uncooperativeness. There has to be a better way.
The only reason I kept bringing up the fact that I am a follower of Christ is because of the individual who continues to criticize me for my beliefs. And the only reason I even mentioned my Christianity in the first place is because of the individual who told the lie that I would go along with wrongdoings. I just wanted to clear that up.
I am also quite suspicious of one who walks up and starts telling me what a fine Christian he or she is. I would watch that person the closest. Those types are often the true hypocrites.
I find it neither arrogant nor shameful to admit to being a Christian, and that flies in the face of the name-calling and inflammatory remarks that seem to dominate this blog. I'd like to see that stop, and hopefully it will.

What is wrong with your post, is the same thing that is wrong with a lot of the posts on here. You use a passive aggressive approach to deal with the problems. First and foremost, you mention that people have questioned your Christianity by being an enabler of wrongdoing. That doesn't mean your are any less a Christian. Peter himself enabled the tribulations of Christ, did he not? You are an enabler because you allow the things in government, county and city to occur and then do nothing to stop them or you defend the actions of those who affect these actions. I believe you are a good Christian who is just completely misguided. I believe you are strong in your faith, but that does not mean you can't be wrong. I also believe that you belittle people just as much as the people you accuse of the same.

However, the passive aggresive nature of your prayer at ther begiining of this post was absolutely blatant. All you had to say was Merry Christmas or God Bless, or whatever other prayer you wanted to, but you had to add on about the hatemongering that is nonexistent in the patina that you are representing. I do not hate anyone in the local government, but I do not like what some of them do. Therefore, I am not a hatemonger, I am A Concerned Citizen. I wish you would realize that we are all working for the same goals, we are just more aggressive about it. I do hope you have a Happy and Blessed New Year.

People have had children out of wed lock in this county since it was founded. The difference is that in past generations they shamed the girl and hid the fact that she was pregnant. Sometimes the grandmother or aunt would raise the baby as if it was there own and even lie sometimes to the child as to who was actually the mother.

In my opinion the past generations were worse.

9:57 is right and while you can't raise a child to adult hood on that amount each year the price for disposal continues each year. So think how much it will cost city taxpayers and others who will never have a dead animal removed from their property but will continue to pay this cost every year.

Then I drink from the city water. ugh

That is where the farmer needs to take responsibility for the waste that his business produces and not lay it off on the tax payers, especially when that is a normal part of operations.

Businesses are responsible for the waste they produce and not the tax payers. Set the fine high enough and I bet the farmers would not let a dead livestock decay in the water supply.

The birth of a child is an amazing thing. It is not the childs fault who their parents are. This chi,ld may have a very loving mother and father, who both work. You may have absolutely no clue about the parents. Then again you may. I don't know. In my opinion it is scumbags like you that pass judgment on other with your better than thou attitude.

Maybe you can write your congressman and ask them to sponsor a bill that only people who use birth control can have sex. Better yet the government can install cameras and have a black ops unit that will come to your house and forcibly make you use birth control if you do not meet certain financial requirements. But lets extend it from there because not all people are equal, so if birth defects are detected or the parents are not smart or ugly, and lacks the proper genetic coding, lets go ahead and rid ourselves of these abominations.

I believe we help those that can not help themselves. Some are not born into great situations and sometimes it is due to no fault of their own. You should judge the past generations for what you deem wrong with the youth of the day since the past generations are the ones that set the example.

I have compassion toward my fellow man as opposed your ignorant redneck rantings putting down an unwed young mother and an innocent newborn.

If we are going to spend our money on war as opposed to protecting our borders, citizens, and Constitution then I want my taxes to go to helping a person as opposed to building a bomb.

Why do people think if someone moves in their community they are trouble makers? My child had to move to another state to get a job because there wasn't any in
Giles county if you want a job that pays anything.

Didn't the good the good paying jobs that did come to Giles County come from out of state?

I heard a man say ome time, "All the good people move away from small towns." I thought that meant he thought I was a hick for staying in Giles County.

Anybody is welcome to move here, but you have to admit that the majority of those who are causing trouble in the county DID move here. I think they (just the troublemakers) have this collective attitude that we don't know how to think and that they are smarter and thus should be taking charge.

Wouldn't you agree that you mean any one is welcome to move here as long as they understand that they are to fall in line, shut their mouth, let government run unchecked as we only enforce policy that will benefit OUR friends and family, Hint that does not include you outsiders/troublemakers. In addition we spit on the Constitution and only good jobs in government will go to those who have been a friend to us in the past, no matter how under-qualified they are. And you outside/troublemakers are welcome to shut your mouth when you see our fair and good ole boys and gals club government officials violating our oath of office, local rules and procedures, or any other written laws we choose to arbitrarily enforce for the good of our friends and family. And let me remind you that does not include you outsider troublemakers.

Isn't thyat what you mean?

No indeed; that is NOT what I meant. You shouldn't be so defensive. I meant just exactly what I said in my post. It really wasn't hard to understand.
My reference to troublemakers was NOT intended for all people who re-locate here. But you and I both knew that, didn't we? That being the case, I have to conclude that you are trying to get something stirred up.
Hopefully, I have been able to help clear up your misunderstandings.
Ok, your turn. This is so childish.

You guys just can't resist making reference to inbreds. Have you ever been to the Appalachians in Pennsylvania or visited the lovely and charming cities of Detroit and New York? Do that and then talk about inbreeding down South.
Do you have anything to discuss, or do you prefer trying to get something stirred up?
It may not be too late for you to catch a bus out of Giles County...even tonight. Think about it. There may be a late departure.

3:13 PM YOU are the one who started referring to newcomers as 'Outsiders'. Don't try to lay that off on someone else. Its sad that some of the limited number moving into Giles county are being treated as outsiders and can never feel at home.

As to those moving here being unemployable, don't they move here to take a leadership position that can't be filled by anyone already living here so the company imports them.

People moved here because they could get jobs here or their company shut down in another state and relocated them here. Jobs come and go from town to town. Quit complaining about there not being any jobs and go get one. People have always followed work. Unless, that is, they are too lazy to work. There are as many jobs in Giles County as the surrounding counties. I know alot of people driving to Pulaski everyday from Alabama to work. There are also several driving out of Giles County. There has to be some reason they live in Giles County and work in another county. If they hate Giles County so much, why not move to the county in which they work?

All the northerners moved down here to follow car manufacturing. Now that the industry has slowed they are forced to take a lower paying job because the union isn't supporting them anymore and they can't stand it. Well guess what, people have made a living and supported families around here forever without the greed of the union and its employees.

The troublemakers who have moved here are a small faction of the good and decent majority who have moved here and who have enriched our county. Does that sound to you like I was complaining about "outsiders"? Does the fact that some of my dearest friends here are from other states sound like I dislike people who were born and raised here? Have they eaten at my house? Not that it's any of your business, but they certainly have. So you are wrong as usual.
That was low-down of you to make reference to homosexuals. For all I know some of my friends and acquaintances may be homosexual. Are you a homosexual? I ask because you seem so preoccupied with that. I'll BET that not so long ago you were the one who seemed to trip over gender issues with me? Interesting.

It use to be two girls or two boys shared an apartment so rent would be chaeper, now if two boys or two girls live together they will be labeled even if they aren't.

To me they are the one answering to God for their belief, I will answer for myself.

If you check the census for the last twenty years Giles County has lost population. Every other County in mid south Tennessee with the exception of Giles has gained population. Don't trust me, check the census including the latest.

per a previous post by one that boasts all is peachy in Giles, if people follow the jobs and Giles continues to have population decreases, what does that tell you. And I am employed, live in Giles County and have to pull may paycheck from outside Giles County because the job market in Giles County sucks. 20% less than you get for the same job in neighboring counties.

Yes, this is the same Giles County where I was born and raised. The same goes for my children who are boith now grown and moved away. Why? It's because they couldn't find jobs here after college. It's even worse now.
At the risk of sounding jealous and resentful (typical of this blog), I have to say that the children of bankers and other influential people have the resources to stay right here if they so choose.
Those who wish this to become and remain a retirement community should be ashamed. This is so much like what went on during the draft years of the Vietnam War. The poor boys went to Vietnam and the sons of the infuential stayed home. Listen to the song "Fortunate Son" by Creedence Cleaerwater Revival, and you will get the message and feel that same outrage.

I am so tired of trying to figure out which anonymous jackwagon is posting what.
