The Charter Failed, and The People Lost!
Well, the Charter failed and the people lost a real opportunity to come out from under the thumb of an overbearing few who hold power and have used it to enrich themselves and their families.
Some county/city employees used government equipment and government time to spread the most vicious lies that would make even Chicago gangster/politicians cringe at their boldness.
The small turn out of voters stated that they would rather pay higher taxes and have less say; would rather believe outrageous lies instead of respond to the truth; let others abuse them than take responsibility for their lives; and remain as it was imagined 200 years ago than face reality. Is there any wonder, with the prevailing unwelcome attitude toward outsiders and anyone not toeing the mark, that this county continues to actually lose population and it's financial base.
The votes have been cast, now live with it but I certainly don't know how some could look in the mirror after the lies they used.

The Charter would not have been able to do all that you say it would do. People in office that would abuse the priveledge will do so under either form of government.
The truly sad part of it is that the majority of "no" voters I talked to afterwards said they didn't even read it, they just heard it was bad.
I'm talking about normally intelligent people too, not just idiots. Two prominent citizens -- good friends of mine -- said they heard it would just add another level to our governing body. That seems to be one of the more popular bits of mis-information.

The charter failed and CAVE lost. WE THE PEOPLE won. Live with that.
I hope Janet AKA Lindsey Wagner 6 million $ woman learns from the charter and works on an honest budget instead of making excuses! When she gets her wheel tax then 6.08 the joke is on you.
The charter failed! Nothing more should be said about it. The citizens had their say. I have told you time and time again that you are an almost definite defeat for anything you stand behind Barrett. It is sad that you continue on like a loser. Afterall, you are a loser and should try to live the rest of your life in peace.
6:08
What or who is CAVE? Does that somehow stand for the Charter Commissioners who wrote the charter? Not enough letters. Since you are Anonymous you won't be afraid to tell us who they are.
Microvote President James M. Ries when asked about whether the MicroVote Infinity could be manipulated stated, "The states basically look at the federal qualification testing as being kind of the ultimate testing ground. As a vendor working with these independent testing authorities, they do a good job of following the test plans afforded to them by the vendors. They don’t really go outside of those test
plans…. Well, because of identity or lack of identity with records, there’s really no way that I could prove to a voter, post tally, that their vote exactly counted the way that they voted it".
So according to the president of the company that makes the voting machines used in Giles County he can not say with authority that the machines can not be manipulated yet Mrs Bassham has stated that the absolutely can not be manipulated!
In 2008 the state of Indiana fined Microvote $360,000 for 198 violations of Indiana election law. Deputy Secretary of State Matt Tusing told reporters, …”MicroVote’s apathetic attitude towards proper certification is disconcerting, especially considering that their profits come from taxpayer dollars.”
From another post, it was so good, just had to share it again.
The proposed Giles County Charter may have failed during the August 2, 2012 election but 3 facts remain:
1) The proposed Charter for Giles County has been written;
2) The proposed Charter for Giles County can come before the electorate again in a future election;
3) The current failing approach for the financial management of Giles County remains in place.
Remember, nothing changes if nothing changes.
DON'T WORRY FOLKS.....THE CHARTER LIVES ON, IT WILL BE BACK ON THE BALLOT. YOU CAN VOTE ON THAT!!!
I hope it is. That is the only reason I went to vote. I wanted to make sure and get my NO vote on the ballot.
If Mr. Barrett hadn't posted the charter vote failed, cg would be whining about that.
Well charter or not, Mr. Barrett or not the only thing that has failed is common sense. Missing money financial dept, school money, teacher premiums not paid in timely manner, hospital fund raided against resolution, ... It goes on an on. What people dont acknowledge is that if these questions about what is going on we're answered freely, willingly, and when asked,,....there probably
Wouldn't have even been a push for a charter.
Can anyone agree that makes sense? And still we wait for answers, to which
I won't be holding my breath.
10:02
I agree. if the events you have listed along with many others had been openly disclosed to the public then many of the native Giles County citizens who supported the charter would not have.
There are things in the Charter had they not been in there would have helped it garner more support.
I agreed with the fiscal responsibility and budget enforcements as well as being able to move a percentage of one department budget into another during certain periods of the year to help keep from borrowing money. however i do believe specific criteria that would result in a transfer should have been outlined as I see a way for abuse to happen. Let's say the Executive gets it in for one department head that performs their job well, sets a budget, plans for the present and future and then operates within their budget but has put off til the end of the fiscal year to purchase equipment or machinery that needs to be purchased and the money is suddenly yanked and given to some one deemed to be one of the best fit people that does not set an accurate budget, consistently overspends and performs their job poorly because they can not operate within their budget. In light of some events I think that having a poorly performing head having to go back and have to get approval from the commissioners is better. at least we know who is under-performing. On the other hand you do have the padding of budgets and the wasteful spending that goes on now.
I did not agree with the education requirements as i have found that informally educated people sometimes have more practical solutions and represent the common citizen. Our society is made up of all types of citizens including all levels of education and all citizens have the right to be represented by people that have their point of view. I have found many higher educated people to feel superior to "uneducated" citizens and tend to treat them and their opinions as if they are that of children. Some people tend to have that attitude towards citizens once they have been elected to a public position even though they lack an education. Look at our local government now.
The best tool is to show the truth about those who abuse their power and hope that we can get some responsible elected officials in place through the vote.
I did support the charter because of the current administration's continued actions, but I did not want a charter. I thought it to be the lesser of two evils. If 1700 citizens showed up at the polls to support it and 2400 against it the commissioners better wake up because I feel we will have a changing of the guard next election and then maybe we will have a government that actually gives a crap about all Giles County citizens as opposed to their friends and family.
Barrett
Well, here you go again trying your very best to discredit the election commission office. There's more honesty and integrity in Mrs. Bassham's little finger than you have ever had in your entire life. Who do you think you are to suggest that she is a liar?
Speaking of a voting machine, I've never had the first one of them give me a receipt for my vote. SO WHAT?
Get past your bitterness and let's move on. Any elections you lose are your own fault.
7:33
Why do you thibk we are keeping our NO CHARTER signs. We feel certain that you people will be back and that we will have to fight it again.
I do hope that Mr. Cobb keeps his pen full of ink and is prepared to write more letters to the editor. He is the intellegent leader of the NO CHARTER group and I appreciate his efforts.
I only discovered this blog a few weeks back and this is my first attempt at responding. I also think the people of Giles County missed a golden opportunity to improve the way we govern ourselves. When the first No Charter sign went up I knew we were in trouble. It was already over by then. Early voting put the nails in the coffin. The No signs generated a tremendous amount of curosity on what the charter actually was. If the No bunch had just sat quietly by the outcome would have been worse. That curosity afforded the opportunity for people to educate themselves about the charter. I surmise most of these people voted yes. Every person I approached during the final days that voted No voted early, most did not know what the chater was about and some had been approched by commissioners at their home seeking a no vote. To say they were misled is an under statement. The ignorance about the charter among other wise intelligent people was startling. Yes people really failed in educating the people. That will not happen the next time. This is a golden learning opportunity for the Yes group. As for the elected officials who worked so hard to defeat this, we will eventually find who you all are. As I like to tell drug dealers who try set up in our communities "Boys were coming for you", come election time "Boys were coming for you". Thanks to all who worked on this charter and thanks to the ones who sponser this blog. Maybe next time the results will be different. I spoke with a man from Lincoln County last week and he said their taxes had gone up 43%. They are writing their charter now. Interesting to see how they vote.Didn't mean to ramble on.

The people with the NO charter signs are fortunate to still have their signs. NONE OF THEM WERE VANDALIZED.
On the other hand, the YES banners were torn/slashed, pulled off their posts and the small signs were pulled up and disappeared.
Says much about the character of both sides. Vandalizing campaign signs is illegal but such tactics didn't deter the NO charter people.

Title 2 Elections
Chapter 8 Determination of Results
Tenn. Code Ann. § 2-8-104 (2012)
2-8-104. Opening of voting machines.
(a) The commission, or such persons as it may designate, shall, as soon as possible after the election, open each voting machine and compare the votes shown with the tally sheets prepared at the polling place.
(b) All candidates, their representatives, representatives of the political parties, and representatives of the press may be present at the opening of the voting machines and throughout their examination and shall be given ample opportunity to examine the tabulations.
(c) The commission shall revise any figures in the tally sheets prepared at the polling place to conform to the figures on the machines without writing on or otherwise making the original figures on the tally sheets illegible. The commission figures shall be circled in red.
Was this law upheld? Or was some one allowed access to the machines after early voting, which is not the election?
Of course the law wasn't upheld. That would lead to the Giles Election Commission (aka Bassham/Rackley) being discovered for what they truly are - liars, thieves, and crooks.
It's that simple. Anyone that thinks the Giles Election Commission cares at all about the sanctity of the ballot box is as big of a nut as Rackley himself.
12:00 Why don't you go down there and show those two "liars" how it should really be done. I bet your 3rd grade education could blow them away since they don't know what they are doing. You seem to be the 'NUT" IN THIS CASE! wHAT A STUPID POST YOU MAADE!!
I REALLllYyyyYY looVVEE the way YOU TYPeee THINGSsss, JANE!!!
I'mmMM SUrEE YOu and tHE NUT RacckleeYYY GettT aloNGG GreATT!!!
Mr. Barrett,
I have often wondered how you could "look into ANY mirror" and not see the evil spirit that lurks within! YOU and Don Parr are the only reason folks didn't vote or support your evil plan on election day! I thought the Charter was quite good and had needed changes, BUT I DID NOT VOTE FOR IT JUST BECAUSE YOU TWO EVIL SUB-HUMANS WERE FOR IT. LIVE WITH IT NOW!!!
3;29
AT LEAST I AM DECENT ENOUGH TO USE MY NAME. I DO NOT KNOW RacckleeYYY! Is that "Jo-mamma?"
ONLY COWARDS POST AS "ANONYMOUS". LIVE WITH IT DIP STICK! This is Giles County, LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT!
Haha, decent enough to use your name? Jane? Really? Don't you mean DAVID?
You really are as stupid as you come across in person.
I doubt David Rackley ever reads this blog, but have a message for him if he does.
David, I don't think in anyway you would of done anything wrong with the votes. Your stepping down from them proved what a good and honest man I always believed you were. Don't let what things some may say hurt you, hold your head up and go on with your life. Sticks and stones may hurt you, but words want really hurt you.
Dear Republican Nellie wonder no more how I look into mirrors, I look into mirrors with eyes of clarity and without the disappointment of having done less than what I believed was right. Perhaps I just don't have as close a relationship with evil spirits as you therefore I can not identify them as well as you. How do you manage knowing that you helped the charter, that you described as "quite good and had needed changes" be defeated because of "two evil sub-humans" who you thought were supporting it. That certainly says a lot about your strength of character or more appropriately lack of. I support good medical care does that mean you will no longer visit your doctor or allow yourself to receive medical care? I support freedom of speech does that mean you will now remain silent? I strongly oppose Obama does that mean you are now an avid supporter of his?
I'm somewhat perplexed that you couple me with Don Parr as he had nothing to do with the Charter nor did I have anything to do with his campaign.
You have a good day now and start saving up for your tax increase, or maybe those evil spirits you hang out with will help you pay them.
In response to WJS 10:27am.
One of the no charter signs (the one at the end of Industrial Rd. and 31 N.) had to be put back up twice because someone tore it down. The sign on 64W. disappeared and was never found.
We are supposed to be a republic not a democracy. You can thank FDR for that change. Khrushchev warned us years ago. They (the communist) would destroy America from the inside. It is a shame that we have allowed a small group of communist trained organizers to move into this community and convince so many that we need some charter/home rule/mob rule type government. Our founding fathers were very much against this type of government. You can be sheep or you can be patriots.Which will it be? Bring back the republic.
3:12
Quite a scumbag, aren't you? Why don't you sign your name so the ones you just slandered can have their attorneys get in touch? Come on...step up and be brave. Don't you want transparency, or are you the liar you accuse decent and conscientious people of being?
You have the gall to slander a couple of the msot honest people I have ever known.
From what I hear, one of the troublemakers behind this along with a couple of others are probably going to be sued. What about that? I hope David Rackley takes them to the cleaners.
I just wish someone could do something to get this blog shut down.
While youa re smarting off to Nellie, may I ask how you are going to answer or respond to Clay McAlister's letter in today's paper? It sorta makes you look like a lair, doesn't it?
To 9:35
It's obvious that in your warped little mind, you wouldn't be able to tell a Republic from a Democracy if it bit you on the nose.
Calling me a "communist trained organizer" not only shows your utter ignorance but also a contemptible cowardice. From February 1964 to March 1984 I served in the US Army and was awarded the Meritorious Service Cross at my retirement ceremony. I will gladly compare my military service to yours anytime so when you identify the patriots from your sideline seat you can point to me and a large number of other folks in Giles county that chose to come here and because we are patriots we will always seek the best for our families and homeland.
While you and a few other brain dead hypocrites try to keep the people in the dark ages of a feudal system that sucks the life blood out of them, those who are real patriots will be fighting you tooth and nail.
I agree with your statement, "Bring back the republic, that is the very thing the Charter sought to do and would have done had you and your lying buddies, mostly government employees, not used the tactics of Chicago gangsters.
9:40 Look for my response and be sure it will be direct quotes from McAlisters sworn testimony that reveal the real liar and bully who thought he was above the law and deserving of special treatment.
Just read McAlister's commentary in today's paper. Is it just a coincidence that so many posts on this blog sound like that commentary? Do we finally know who cg is???? Or the "enabler" or the one who has the most hateful posts about Barrett?
August 08, 2012 6:39:00 AM,
I feel certain that the Charter proposal will be back on the ballot in the future, hopefully, sooner than later. I truly believe that time is not on your side. Please note that It took from April 19, 1775, the beginning of hostilities with Great Britainat at Lexington, Massachusettes until December 15, 1791 to formulate and finally ratify that quintessential document that we call the Constitution of the United States and its Bill of Rights.
Mr. Barrett I respectfully disagree with you on an item in the title of this discussion thread, "The Charter Failed, and the People Lost". The electorate of Giles County didn't lose - they made a choice. It may have not been the choice that you or I wished, but it was a choice all the same. The people who considered the measure, including those who chose not to vote at all, spoke via the electoral process and the proposed Charter was not adopted at this time. A choice was made to retain the status quo.
Let's talk about that a bit.
I believe that a prudent education of the electorate of Giles County as to the benefits of the Charter will prevail over time and gain its eventual adoption. Sometimes you have to hit "bottom" before you are willing to accept the idea that something has to change because of what you are doing is not solving the problem. But I can tell you that name calling, mud-slinging, and poking people in the eye certainly isn't going to win friends and influence enemies. You can't call a person a fool, a liar, or an idiot and then expect them to be convenced that you have a better way to get things done.
The Charter commission during the open forum on July 26th, stated that the Charter, in and of itself, would not fix the financial problems that this county is facing. The Charter would provide an open, fixed and controlled environment by which the people could get a better handle on the local county government.
This county cannot continually draw from a finite pool of money with no established plan as to how it will be repaid. "The money will be repaid as funds become available" is not a plan. That is the only "plan" that I have seen that has been offered. We can't have what we can't pay for, so it's time to belly up to the bar and decide what method and how much money it is going to take to do what needs to be done, and to do it in a well thought out manner.
The proposed Charter would provide just such a mechanism by requiring a written, balanced, line item budget. What was wrong with that? It would be easy to make a bunch of snide remarks here, but what would it accomplish? That's exactly what nthe opposition to the Charter wants - distraction. Instead of sniping at each other why not put those energies into developing a solution to our problem. A bunch crass remarks that are based on prejudices and flippant accusations do not do anything but alienate and divide this county.
Wednesday, August 08, 2012 9:35:00 PM
Don't ever call me a communist ....
It's pretty obvious that 9:35 is Pollard. He's the only one I know of that likes to toss the word "communist" around. Should have just as well signed his name to the post.
Jane the Brain, how is signing your post like that any different from posting anonymously? No one can tell who you are by that signature.
9:37, you are really as stupid as you appear if you think anyone is going to be sued. There is no proof of slander or defamation by anyone on here. It would just be a waste of money to even try. The ones who posted their opinion and signed their name had every right to do so. You defame people on here all the time with your anonymous posts;that's why you post anonymously. Give it a rest and stop being foolish for a while.
Mr. Barrett,
We read Clay McAlister's piece in the paper yesterday and just had to laugh when finished. Why the laughter? We laughed because we knew you would try to put a spin on what Mr. McAlister said to make him look like the bad guy and you the victim. What a crock!
If Clay McAlister is the bad guy and you the victim, then please explain why YOU had to pay him? And don't say it's because you wanted to keep your 64 Mustang. That would be another crock.
Oh, and I'd be careful in making further allegations about Mr. McAlister. You could get sued again!
The charter failed because the majority wants it that way.
Interesting that 6:31 is now a multi-personality and guess that explains how they can talk out of both sides of their mouths. On the one hand they challenge Barrett to explain, then in their 6:39 they warn about saying anything.
While the majority of voters may have wanted the charter defeated it certainly was not the majority of people as less than 25% bothered to even vote.
James. It's simple. He can explain why he had to pay Mr. McAlister without having to put a spin on it.
10:53 is right, the McAlister article in the paper has way to many familiar comments to the cg/enabler for McAlister and cg/enabler not to be the same person.
7:49
Such as? Give examples.
When you allow the general public (the majority) to vote on laws or issues such as taxes, you are moving away from a republic.
8:35
"he should consider moving"
"he is supposed to be a preacher"
10:08
A lot of people make those same statements. A LOT.
10:08
Would you care to bet that he doesn't put a lengthy letter in next week's paper?
10:14 Do you think only one side of the issue should be put in the paper.
Wasn't McAlister piece in the paper rather long and wasn't it his spin/version of what happened?
Should Barrett not have the same opportunity to give his version?
Surely you are not that biased, are you?
If Barrett isn't telling a lie with his side of the story I'm sure the paper would let him write an article. He is definitely free to write a letter to the editor.
Barrett always spins things so he will sound right yet nothing ever works out in his favor. One would wonder how that happens. Maybe he doesn't always tell the truth? I think I may be on to something there.
That's correct Thursday, August 09, 2012 8:37:00 AM. That's why federal and state government are different. The founders of this nation recognized that democracy is mob rule and that is why we have a federal constitutional republic form of government. And further, each state is guaranteed a republican form of government (Article IV, Sect. 4: USC), but only on a state level.
It should be noted that the 17th Amendment to the US Constitution has weaked the republican form of our federal government as a result of its adoption on April 8, 1913.
11:31 I believe you have been challenged several times before to show one lie that Barrett has told and prove it's untrue. So far you have just run your mouth like Harry Reid and showed nothing to support your claims. On the other hand we have all seen how you lie on this blog, over and over
Did he lie about Clay McAlister? If not, why did he have to write a check? Just asking.
It isn't unusual for honest, innocent people to be treated unfairly. Money talks. People in the good ol' boy clique get away with things ordinary citizens couldn't.
Re: vandalizing school property---kids from rich families get away with stuff kids from middle-class families wouldn't.
Re: some elected public officials can get caught DUI and nothing happens to them, ordinary citizens can get jail time.
Re: how many people on death row have found after years in prison to be proved innocent.
4:40
I knew someone would step forward and try to totally put a spin on what happened. Are you suggesting that the courts and the attorneys are part of what you call the "good ole boy" system? That's a bit of a stretch.
you better believe it ole boy
I'm just thankful there are enough of us ole boys out here to defeat your charter and those candidates you keep trying to get into key positions within our community government. We're not as dumb as you thought we'd be. That trend will continue.
You're right 6:31 in the same way Al Capone was right about Chicago and just look how well that rat hole has turned out.
By the way ole boy guess you are well pleased that there isn't any hospital money anymore.
Like it or not, the trend will continue.
Is there a place where I can pick up an application to join the good ole boys?
I agree 8:41, the trend of no more hospital money will continue. First truthful thing you've said on here.
8:57, you just gotta know when and where to pucker up.
I'd rather take my stand with the good ole boys than with CAVE. They at least know how to treat others.
First qualification for the good ole boys group is you never been outside the county for more than three hours at a time, you majored in football or basketball during your six years in Jr. High, you and your sister get your welfare checks addressed to Mr. and Mrs. and the only ones in your family who can identify both their parents is the family dogs.
9:12 Know how to treat people???
Is telling people to MOVE, treating them good??
Is running people that moved into Giles County good??
Is calling anyone C.A.V.E. good?
You can complain when they say something against vanzant, but instead of being a Christian about it, you join them and say things about them. Kettle calls the pot black.
Has the people you call CAVE ever said they were going to quit posting on the blog and keep on??
Thanks for all the tips 9:03 and 9:56, after all I'm new to this county so I need all the help I can get to know who is who around here.
I've figured out who WAB is.
I don't know if I could identify any of the good ole boys (and all this time before I thought they were a country music band, how silly of me).
But, who is CAVE?
And, who is cg?
And who is the enabler?
These handles are a bit confusing for a new person in this county. Are these folks good or bad?
4:51 If you are new to the county beware. CG & enabler are the same person. Called CG because he said he was a Christian Gentleman. Enabler is what some have call him/her because he/she thinks everything the elected officials do is alright and don't want anyone to say anything about them.
cg/enabler is the one often telling the people that's great grandparents wasn't born here to move and stop trying to tell the natives what to do.
cg/enabler is also the one that said three times he/she wasn't going to post on the blog anymore, but just can't help himself and keeps posting.
The "good ole boys" is what some call the county officials.
Cave is what cg named the people that don't like what the county officials do.
Good luck and welcome to Giles county. Just beware if you don't think what some county officials have done is ok.
7:00
Troublemaker-in-chief is what some people call Allen Barrett. Some still refer to him as a man of God.
A man of God? Are you kidding?
7:00
Thank you so much for taking the time to explain all this for me. Let me get this straight:
cg/enabler is FOR the established natives of Giles County and doesn't like non-natives. Which tribe do you suspect that he/she is a member: Cherokee, Creek, Choctaw or Chickasaw? My guess is Chickasaw because they were the native peoples of this area prior to the Indian Rewmoval Act of 1830.
And, CAVE is some acronym for new families who have come to this area since WWII but, alludes to them as being like the carpetbaggers of the reconstruction era of the late 1800's.
Am I close on this assessment?
By the way, what were the results of the State Comptroller's office's audit that took place in May-June this year after Ms. Garner resigned?
10:38 You seem to have it right.
As for the audit, I'm wondering if it was done. will we ever hear from it. Looks like it's time we did.
10:44 That question wasn't asked, so I didn't answer it.
Guess I'm a carpetbagger, but my ancestors were here during the Civil War.
10:38
CAVE is made up mostly of know-it-alls who have moved in here and think they ought to be able to tell us what to do and how to think. However, some of them were born and raised here. Sorta shoots down what you just said. Try to be more truthful.
12:22 You must belong to cave then!
Nothing needs to change.
3:15
No. I want NOTHING to do with those people.
6:37 You think you are better than them??
11:09
No. I just don't associate with people like that. I see them as mean and quite dangerous.
6:57 Why do you say you are quitting the blog, then change your mind so much?
Do any of your really expect that Janet Vanzant will release the results of the State Audit? The State will in about four months.
Also, Giles County has a State mandated Audit Committee of its own. This Committee is composed of County Commissioners. Has anyone heard whether or not that County Audit Committee has met and discussed the current budget process? I doubt it.
Lastly, do any of you believe that Janet Vanzant or any of the current Commission will hold a public meeting to discuss the future of the Hospital Fund before they cut off $11 million to pay off the School Bonds? Again, I doubt it. Eventhough such a move would be against the Commission's own resolution passed at the sale of the hospital, why should they, we the people have allowed them to spend our money as the County Executive and Commission see fit for the past 8 years, thank you Janet.
I am willing to bet thet the Hospital Fund will disapear before we the citizens of Giles County know what is going on.
8:16
Why don't you call Mrs. Vanzant and ask her your questions? Wouldn't that be better than having yourself and your buddies speculate about the answers?
I have called her office. Guess what?? She was not available (as usual) and her secretary had no clue as to where she was or when she would return. Yes, she did take a message and I asked that Vanzant return my call. That was last Wednesday morning. Still waiting for that return call.
I will talk to Mrs. Vanzant in the morning and find out who left the message last wednesday morning. That way we will all know who you are. I will call you if she doesn't want to.
cg, why didn't you answer 12:00am's question? Seems you just ignored it for some reason?
I will be outside Mrs. Vanzant's office to see who goes in to see her so I will know who the great cg is.
the audit is completed and currently with the state comptroller. It may have been released to county officials or it may still be days away from release to them. I believe it still hasn't been released to commissioners at this time.
The county audit committee is as active and involved as the county ethics committee, so don't expect anything from them.
To the newcomer to the county, welcome, glad you are here. Please do not allow posters to form your opinion of others active on this blog and in the community. Read the past postings all mine are signed and it shouldn't take long to understand who some of the unsigned posts are from.
Are you recruiting for CAVE? I hope newcomers will be smarter than that.
Hello to Sunday, August 12, 2012 4:59:00 PM
You stated : I will talk to Mrs. Vanzant in the morning and find out who left the message last wednesday morning. That way we will all know who you are. I will call you if she doesn't want to.
Well .... did you speak to our esteem County Executive?????? Did she provide you with her answer as to why she has not returned my call??????
Or, is she just too busy to call a voter?
I talked to her 11:57. I know who you are. I couldn't help but laugh when I found out. Turns out you are as large a loser as Barrett. You are of no importance so I will let you keep your anonimity. If you didn't call and cry so much someone might take you seriously.
Oh, and to the new guy. Don't believe the lie that Barrett doesn't post anonymously. That is not true at all. I know for a fact that he doesn't always use his name in posts. He is a very sorry individual.
8:54 Does Ms Vanzant not know anything about privacy? Of course, the way your response is written it shows you are a fake.
9:02
Wouldn't that fall under public record? It seems everything else does.
Trust me 9:02, I know who you are now. I won't tell on this blog. Everyone has a right to privacy. I will tell you to be more careful of what you say. Though I now know you can't be taken seriously it doesn't mean other won't take action.
7:08 a.m. No. Someone's identity for a PRIVATE CONVERSATION IS NOT CONSIDERED PUBLIC RECORD.
If Vanzant did disclose that information then it is an invasion of privacy. As for 7:28 a subpoena can be made to find the identity of this person and since it has claimed first hand knowledge and being a party of the invasion of privacy, I would take action.
The enabler is blowing smoke again claiming to know something when it don't know beans from potatoes.
8:38
Enabler?
To you people that really think posts on here are truly anonymous! Right click on a page and select "view source' ... it's amazing what you can tell it you know how to read it!!!!!
10:30 that was amazing reading.
Thanks!
It must really suck to be you 10:30 nothing to do but make up stuff and try to irritate others.
11:59
In this day of terrorism and technological warfare, do you honestly think our government security would allow something to be totally anonymous on the Internet? If you do you are a true idiot!
If there was an election and the majority voted no, then the people won. Majority rules! This is another example of these people calling us stupid. Is anyone else tired of that?
6:32
Sick asnd tired is more like it. More and more people are seeing what this group is doing and the trouble they are causing.
Actually more and more people are seeing the corruption that is being exposed.
Corruption? Exposed? You people love those words, don't you? What I find so laughable is that you don't even realize who the chief promoter of all this strife is.
Tell me something. Exactly how has all this troublemaking and strife bettered Giles County?
Well, I'd say Vanzant is the chief problem.
10:37 Why don't you answer the question? How has all this troublemaking and strife bettered Giles County? It has certainly cost taxpayers a LOT of money in legal fees defending against agitated and ridiculous lawsuuits. It also cost us a lot of money over the charter issue.
Could you comment on that question please?
How much money has the charter issue cost giles county?
8:25
It cost three thousand dollars alone just to run that thing in the paper. Who paid for that? Taxpayers.
Oh come now, didn't it cost the citizens more than $3000? After all wasn't the no charter campaign financed directly and indirectly with tax payer dollars?
But if you are going to talk about some one costing the tax payers money. $70,000 for discriminatory practices over $200,000 the Hunter Smith building, Vanzant, T. Jackson and Loretta Garner and best fit hiring practices, millions!!
No charter was NOT financed with taxpayer money, so stop lying.
As for the $70,000 the county had to pay, I don't think you fully understand why Ms. White wasn't hired. She was not the best fit either. Her skin color had nothing to do with it, but someone agitated and pushed it along that line, and the county knew it would be practically impossible to prevail when someone cries discrimination. You know that as well as I do.
The $3,000.00 to publish the charter in the local newspaper was not that mandated by State Law? What was the cost to create the charter? I hear that the people who wrote the charter did so without any pay? Is that true?
Yeah there was no pay for those who created the charter.
9:17
The discrimination was not that Mrs. White was not hired but that she was not afforded the same opportunity to interview for the position as lesser qualified applicants. It was proven by an outside source she was more qualified. Maybe you should understand what the case was really about as opposed to what you wanted it to be about. Opportunity plain and simple. You know America.
Do you know her work history? Could that have been a dominant facor? Do you or not?
People are afraid to talk about this oput of fear that they themselves might be sued...or encouraged to sue.
factor?
Was this "dominant factor" based on rumor or actual knowledge? And don't be afraid to state fact since you can not be sued for stating fact. If you can not state fact to back your assertions then quit trying to make insinuations as to the ladies character when the actions of the ones who discriminated and cost the tax payers $70,000 should be what is scrutinized.
her work history could have kept her from being hired but it had nothing to do with her not being interviewed and that is why the county had to pay. So far you are zero for three today, zero truths and three lies.
12:05
Why don't you investigate and give us a report then?
Don't need to, it was already investigated. The county was guilty because the guilty party pays. Isn't that what you guys continue to scream. And it really does not matter what spin you try to put on it. Public record showed she was not afforded a proper interview, independent firm found she was more qualified than other applicants who were granted interviews, she sued because her rights were violated and the tax payers had to pay for those bigoted acts and those are the facts. Ok.
3:28
That is not the ompletye picture, and I would almost bet that you already know that. Since when is an employer not allowed to hire whoever he/she chooses? Oh, not when someone is encouraging a discrimination lawsuit, right?
Again I do not think you understand. The lawsuit was not that she was not hired but that she was not afforded the interview that was given to lesser qualified employees. No one has questioned the ability of an employer using their own money to finance a business to hire whoever they want, but when tax dollars are used then proper protocol is to be followed to ensure every one has been afforded the same considerations. That was not done and since it was proven she was more qualified than some of those brought back in she could have only been denied because of the way she looks. Any way the county was wrong in it's interview practice, they discriminated in favor of best fit hiring practices and we have no general and soon to be hospital fund. But of course you know that and wish to continue to show the lengths you will go to to enable wrong in this community.
If you are going try to slant that she stole something from another employer then I advise you to show factual proof or shut up about this. It will be easy to prove because their certainly would be a police report or a person to corroborate your claims. But I suspect it is more lies you like to tell to try to redirect from the actions of those who chose to act so irresponsibly.
5:44 don't be a dunce an employer can hire who ever they please but a government agency must abide by the non discrimination policy that they have posted in every department.
You probably knew that but like most things you choose to make it the way you want it and facts be damned.
So you are saying everytime I apply for a job and don't get interviewed I can get $70k? That is awesome! Does it work even though I am a white mail?
6:24
Exactly what lies were told?
It was the insinuations toward Mrs. White's character that keep being posted by some with out one shred of proof.
1:33
Precisely what insinuations were made against her? All I ever saw posted were questions about the employer having the right to hire whoever was deemed the best fit for the job. I don't recall anyone attacking Ms. White's character.
Janet Vanzant attacked Mrs. White's character in Financial Management meetings and again in private meetings with Tommy Campbell, Barry Hyatt and Tee Jackson.
By the way; it seems that Mrs. White is a shoe-in for the Director's job; even though she does not waht the job.
On this blog they were trying to post she was fired from a previous job for stealing. And considering the source was the enabler, no proof was presented to back the insinuations. If that had been the case there would not have been a need to pay her for discrimination because there would have been proof of the accusations. Instead some would rather attack her, in my opinion, because she was black.
I don't recall ANYONE accusing Mrs. White of stealing. Where did you get that?
Read the blog 11:31. It was in one of the last four threads posted as well as previous threads in which she was discussed.
Are you saying that someone accused her of stealing? I just do not believe that.
I read the posts so I know it to be true.11:54
Maybe you made the posts and are denying what the posts meant now. That seems to be the enablers way.
Well, there's one thing for sure...
If anyone wants to talk to David Rackley, please call 800-IAM-ANUT.
12:12, you know damned well they made the posts. That's how the lying enabler works. Hints and insinuates but never outright SAYS anything. He would need to grow a pair and sign his name;they will be having snowball fights in hell before that happens.
That's a fact and not an opinion, enabler, so sue me. Oh wait, you can't because I'm hiding behind my "anonymous" free speech rights. Too funny.
1:45
You really despise anyone who stands against you people, don't you? Too bad. I think you guys are the ones who need to be "exposed".
6:59 you the only mouth wanting to shut others up cause they don't bow down to you and your buddies as you rob us blind.
8:32
My buddies and I are robbing you blind? That is a low-down lie. I happen to believe in karma when it comes to the mistreatment of others. I wish you did. Perhaps some of this troublemaking would stop.
Speaking of low-down lies, your Tuesday, August 14, 2012 10:30:00 PM post suggested you could find someone's identity by the "view source" command. Wrong once again. That is simply the source code, written in html, for the page. It tells the browser how to display the page and nothing more.
It would be most helpful if you would stop spreading your mis-information on this blog. I've heard there are some people on here who know a thing or two about computers.
Ray Lanier
8:59 Are you saying you don't despise anyone that don't agree with you? laughable
Let's conduct an unofficial survey or opinion poll here. Here's the question:
Who is the most despised individual in Giles County today.
Let's get some input on this.
I can't say about the person, since he refuses to sign his name, but I despise cg's posts more than anyone else's on here.
There's not a nickel's worth of difference in any of them. He should be able to copy and paste -- if he knew how -- and save himself a lot of time.
I personally would just scroll right through his posts if he would only identify them with his name. It sometimes takes me two or three sentences before I know it's him posting.
Those who wish can skip my posts, as they are always signed.
Ray Lanier
Ray, I agree with everything you said. cg is the most despised person posting.
Despised by troublemakers should not be a major concern to anyone. Infact, that could be taken as a compliment.
9:49
The fact that nobody but the contentious even responded to the suggested opinion poll tells me that not very many outside their circle read this blog. Good!
Good word, 7:45. I like that. I always wondered what I was. I am contentious. Damn, that sure fits. I'll be back in a minute, I gotta call my sisters and tell them they were right. Contentious. Well I'll be danged.
Ray Lanier
How many read this blog that support the officials?
Very few.
To Wednesday, August 22, 2012 7:05:00 PM
Janet Vanzant and Tee Jackson are tied for 1st place. Bill Holt is a very close thrid along with Terry Harwell.
1:25
You prove my point that good and decent people generally do not read this blog. Thank God.
I'm sure you will have a cute come-back, so have at it.
1:25
Oh, and I did NOT say that all those who read this blog are not good and decent people. Just thought I would get that out of the way for you. It seems you are so easily confused.
No, you said generally, which means in general or for the most part. I guess you are a self-proclaimed exception to the rule, eh?
3:36
No, I meant exactly what I said. Good and decent people generally do not read this trash.
Yes, I'm an exception to that rule, because I am a good and decent person who would like to see the troublemaking and strife end. Why not let it begin with you?
Oh hell, cg, you never mean what you say. Give it a rest, nobody's buying it anymore.
5:39
More cheap shots I see.
At the price of internet, there was nothing cheap about it.
They just stated fact 11:16.
4:09
You said good and descent people do not read this trash. So that means you and me aren't good descent people. laughing.
10:20
Wrong again. Go back and read what I said. The laugh is on you.
YOu guys are supposed to know what he meant, not what he said. sheesh.
10:44
The post was simple and to the point. Stop trying to stir something up.
Standard reply #4, 11:17. Get some new material.
11:20
The charter failed; you guys lost. How's that for some new material?
Seems like the same old rhetoric to me, almost word for word. Just to prove how ignorant you are, I voted against the charter. Guess your tarot cards misled you this time.
