No Interlocal Agreement For Operation Of Abernathy Field Airport
Why is there no inter-local agreement for the operation of Abernathy Airport?
Why has the county been required to pay half the bills but have no say in any of it's operations?
It seems like with the EDC/IDB, the airport has told the county to give us your money but don't bother us about how we spend it.
It's past time for the county to simply stop funding programs they don't understand, have any control over or drains the coffers without any defined benefits to the citizens of the county.
This also should go for the tax increase given the city to pay for the Sam Davis Park Rebuilding. There is no accounting for what the excess income from this tax is being spent on but one thing is certain the schools are not benefiting from this extra tax.

The optional sales tax was forfeited by the county for twenty years in order for the city to revamp the Sam Davis Park. Unless the county commissioners agreed otherwise, EVERY penny of that optional sales tax should be paid back toward the loan of the revamp for the park. The city should NOT be paying only the monthly payment and using excess funds for other purposes. This shows the loan can be paid back in a shorter period of time. Something I would like to see answered by the City Recorder is 1) What was the actual amount of the loan, not including any padding. 2) How much goes toward principal each month and how much goes toward interest. 3) How much is coming into the city each month from that optional sales tax, and this should be a monthly report.
Additionally, since the City Recorder has stated previously and reported by WKSR, "extra money coming in is used for other things", what are those things and who gave authority for such?
Surely these questions should have been asked a long time ago by both Aldermen and County Commissioners, and why haven't they been?
As for the operation of the airport, the county has been offered the opportunity to run the facility and/or be a part of a committee. In the past, they have always rejected the offers.
We all know that the airport is a big asset to our county. It would be foolish to play games with it.
WAB continues to be a negative influence on the city and county. The question that I have is will he ever bring any positive energy?

I'd say that WAB has brought a lot of positive energy. He positively has lit a fire under some of the crooks that run this place including you 1:45. The only news source that can be depended on to give the full story and not just the mush heard over the radio and in the paper.
I hate to think how much worse this place would be if it wasn't from Mr. Barrett keeping us informed.

I think an airport is overall beneficial, however I don't see why it is stated over an over that it is. Is there a report of fly ins/outs an who it was an the reason for being here?
What has cg ever done anything but try to change the subject and attack WAB. Has he ever said anything about the topic of the thread?

There's no question that the airport is an asset to the community, the questions involve it's operation. Why is there no official interlocal agreement and real joint operations procedures; why are there no monthly public reports of operations; why is the county required to pay so much without any knowledge or control over those expenditures. These are just some of the issues that need to be resolved.

That just isn't correct 1:17. There have been joint committees in the past.
cg is to be felt sorry for. He is a bitter old man who cannot help but let his hatred and jealousy for Allen show. In his mind he is the only one that is right while everyone who has a different opinion is a troublemaker or just plain stupid. I can't help but feel pity for him if for no other reason than the fact that he can't see the mental defects he is afflicted with. Perhaps someday he will realize that the problem lies not with everyone else but within himself.

You don't have an original thought in what passes for a brain in you, do you? All you do is take a piece of someone's opinion of you and re-post it as if it was your idea.
