What I Will Do If Elected To Serve The People OF The 7th District
Some have whined over and over that I should run a "clean campaign" and not talk about the crookedness and lack of integrity of my opponents, just tell what I would do as a Commissioner.
Well, I would not steal from you or lie to you as some elected official have done in the District.
I will not attack any citizens and call them vile perverted sexual names then file false police reports to cover it up.
I will expect to be treated not with special priviledges because of being a commissioner but as a regular citizen with the protections of the U.S. Constitution and the State Constitution.
I will not hide bankrupcies, I have none, and then ask to control your money.
I will continue to keep the people of the county informed not only via this blog but also through regular scheduled town hall type meetings where issues can be discussed prior to commission meetings.
I will donate the pay I earn to local charities minus any tax liability on those earnings.
I will continue to attend every meeting I can possibly attend and will continue to speak out for the interest of the people not for the government.
I will work on each and every project until it is completed and provide updates regularly. How often have you wondered what was happening at the Exit 14; the status of water lines being run; which roads were scheduled to be paved, the status of lawsuits and investigations of political appointees and other officials. As a Commissioner that information will be more readily available.
I will not support any property tax increases or a wheel tax.
I will work to freeze the property tax for seniors in accord with state law.
I will be available for your questions and suggestions. Your phone calls will be returned.
I will not take part in pushing through budgets and amendments without a through examination.
I will at every step keep the citizens informed and involved.

When other media was ignoring such things as the County Executive secretly and illegally giving tax money to an unauthorized charity I exposed it; I was first with information about the lie that provided money to build the new School Offices; I told you about the EDC/IDB lawsuits, mismanagement and underhanded activities; I informed you about the County Executive changing a vote after a Commission Meeting that caused the state to step in on the sell of beer near churches etc; I have stood shoulder to shoulder with individuals who were being abused by the government system; I have told you about the E-911 investigation that is taking place now.
While I don't know everything and am not able to do all things I do know and am able to do a few things but more importantly I know how to get the information and use the energy by simply asking you the people.
People say that, "we deserve the kind of government we get", I strongly disagree and say, "we get the kind of government we choose". If you want to continue the downward spiral of our current direction and remain the bill payers without a true voice on the commission then continue to vote for those in office but if your desire is to have a government more responsive to the people, more responsible with your money, has a plan for our future and will lead with integrity, experience, sensitivity to the people and foresight then you must vote for me and the other conservatives on the ballot.
A person who is unwilling to be honest about their political affiliation is a person who will be dishonest about other issues as well.
I am asking that as you go vote, please consider casting only one vote for your 7th District Commissioner and let it be for me. Thanks.

You forgot one important item! You will set this county back 20 years because you cannot get along with but a handful of people and everyone else will not give you the time of day! You will be total dead weight on the commission!
In an otherwise civil election (at least as far as I can tell), two people stand out as engaging in negative and vituperative campaigning. Both of those people were part of the four from our county that were in the Republican primary. Anyone reading this blog knows the allegations that Mr. Barrett throws around. I was disappointed to receive a large postcard in the mail from Brent Cooper's campaign maligning his opponent, Chaz Molder. Chaz is a stand-up guy, and the postcard attacking him essentially accused him of saying thihngs he never said. Chaz said he would be a prosecutor, not a politician. This was twisted in Cooper's postcard to imply that Chaz had falsely claimed that he is currently a prosecutor. It goes on from there. This expensive full-color mailer was paid for by the Tennessee Republican Party -- it says so right on the postcard. So just as some have accurately predicted, the Republican primary decision was on order straight from Nashville, without regard for cost or whether it made sense, and now Nashville is dumping untold money into our DA race and making deceitful negative allegations against an honest candidate. The fallout from the primary has been exactly what some said it would be: an injection of Nashville partisan interests and partisan attacks against those who chose to run a fair and non-partisan race.
Integrity is certainly the key issue. Remind me again, which candidate in the 7th District was found to have stolen county property in their house? I can't remember.
Allegations? Allegations? Are we talking about allegations? Name one. First let me remind you that there is a difference between an allegation and a fact. If you do make up an allegation as your answer please provide proof that it is an allegation and not a fact.

I understand that the "stand up guy, Chaz" has absolutely no experience in prosecuting criminals. And,I know 4 completely innocent murder victims from Giles County in our recent history. I shudder to think how bungled their investigations could have been if handled by an inexperienced D.A. Without successful prosecutions of murderers, etc., dangerous criminals could be released back into our communities.
I think "Chaz" shows complete lack of understanding of what the D.A's job is all about, when he puts pictures of his wife and children on his ads. Why let potential criminals -that you may be required to prosecute, know what your family looks like?
I will vote for someone who is more than a frat boy. I plan to vote for Brent Cooper who does have experience and who is not planning on using the D.A.'s job to springboard to a higher political office.
Let me make this very clear I was opposed to the Republican Primary for Giles County and no one from Nashville or the Republican Party has given me anything. One of the things that some in the county just simply can not stand is the fact that I owe no one and am owned by no one.
I believe that it is not dirty politics or mudslinging when A person gives factual evidence of misdeeds, wrong behavior and plain out right thief.
It's a fact that Mrs Coleman filed Bankruptcy Case number 9610882. It's a fact that she did not disclose this information on her financial disclosure forms to the state. It is a fact that she took money for a meeting that she knew she was not entitled to receive.
It is a fact that she requested to be on the Budget Committee then failed to attend over half the meetings.
It is a fact that Vickie Harwell filed bankruptcy case number 0515094 and that Terry failed to disclose that fact on his financial disclosure forms to the state. It is a fact that he is receiving taxpayer money twice for the same hours worked. It is a fact that he attacked a citizen on the square, used nationally recognized and legal hate speech in that attack then challenged the citizen to do something about it because "I'm a county commissioner" It is a fact that he lied on a police report about that attack all of which was fully recorded and continues to be seen on You Tube. It is a fact that even if he is re-elected he will still not be able to represent the 7th District on any financial matters.
It is a fact that Mrs. Vanzant did sign Mrs Coleman in as having attended a meeting that she knew full well she did not attend then she authorized full payment to Mrs Coleman not as simply attending but having attended as a committee member thus two people were paid for sitting in the same chair. It is a fact, stated by Mrs Vanzant herself at the July County Legislative meeting, that she had been giving the "night out against crime" between three and five hundred (tax) dollars each year for several years. It is a fact that this was done in secret without any authority from the Commission and without their knowledge. It is a fact that she never required this charity to submit a request to the budget committee as every other charity jus required to do. They also were not required to have the paperwork designating them as a 501c charity on file with the county.
When I post on this blog or make a public statement about some public figures behavior I provide full documentation to back it up. In almost every situation I only post after I have made an effort to give that individual the opportunity to explain their side of the situation.
There is not a single current commissioner or a candidate that I would not be able to work since I work on issues not personalities. I have worked with most of the current commissioners and have a long record of working well with those who actually are interested in results. I will not roll over and play dead for anyone and that has caused friction with some of the good ole boy/girl elites.
One poster says that if I am elected I will set the county back twenty years well that means if true that I would be instrumental in bringing the county into this century. Now they also mentioned "dead weight" can you really think of greater dead weight than people who have set there eight, twelve, twenty years and more who have never presented a single resolution to the commission? What is more dead weight that a commissioner who can't even legally vote of financial matters of the county? How can so many present commissioners and candidates including three from the 7th district not be considered dead weight when they don't even know what the property tax rate for Giles County is.

If you want someone who will speak up and not be intimidated, you want me. If you want someone who has proven to have your best interest at heart and not the government, then you want me. If you want someone who will follow the law and hold others accountable to the same standards that regular citizens are then you want me.
If you want to remain behind the times in a decreasing population, with high taxes and unemployment then you want what you have now. I offer an alternative to the secrecy and deceit of the current county administration and a single vote cast for me will insure a more open efficient government without a wheel tax and property tax increase.
Allegations, you say? What about the fact that known Democrats are listed as Independents for this election? Not illegal but definitely shifty. Are they that worried that voters might vote against them for political affiliation?
I understand not wanting to be associated with the party of obama but when you have a long record of voting democrat and being involved on a state level and in the local democrat party to say you are an independent is a lie and makes you untrustworthy.
Mr. Barrett, I would gladly vote for you if I were in your district. In reading over some of the comments posted, it's abundantly clear that some of the "anti-Barrett" crowd are just protecting their little kingdoms. The light of day is not welcome in their kingdoms. I know you can sometimes come across as a bit prickly, but I believe your heart is in the right place. You tell the truth. You dig for the truth which must take huge portions of your time and you share the truth with all who wish to hear it. You are a truth warrior. And, as such, you do attract a lot of hits. I don't have a clue as to what you are talking about as far as my sisters go. I have two who have lived in Illinois all their life, two who live in Florida and have lived there for well over ten years. I have one sister that died over twelve years ago and one sister that lives in Murfreesboro. Each one of them are retired or own their own businesses. Only one has ever been to Giles County and that was to visit sixteen years ago.
6:47 I have an attorney that is working on the matter of the Open Records violation. The School Board and their attorney are not returning calls in a delaying tactic. I hope the matter is resolved soon but when you are dealing with dishonest people with little respect for the law it's very hard and slow going.
I have definitely not given up. I suggest that people call the newspaper and radio station and ask why they are sitting on the information.

If you would read back through the topics and my comments you would be hard pressed to define me as a supporter. I lobbied for Mr. Smith to be the Director, strongly disagreed with the School Board members Mr. Story and Mr.Byrant and especially with Mr. Btrant when he voted to give more money than Dr. Webb had asked for. I even wrote of telling Dr. Webb that he was not my first choice (I got a lot of criticism and claims of being arrogant over that) but that since he was now the Director he could expect my full support until he proved unworthy of that support. Dr. Webb is at least superficially a very personable, complementary, likable personality. He made some good decisions and he made some bad ones and he made some good decisions that were implemented in a terrible way.
At this point I am not nearly as irritated with Dr. Webb as with the utter imbecilic way the School Board has dealt with this situation.

There are a number of people who are saying that it is dishonest to run as an independent if you are a Democrat. This deserves a response. In Giles County, before this year, when the Republican Party decided to have a primary, ALL local election candidates ran as Independents. That is what you do when you have non-partisan local elections. That is what everyone except for four local candidates decided to continue. Non-partisan local elections have worked well for Giles County in the past, and hopefully we will go back to that in the future. The ballot is full of candidates, both Democrat-leaning and Republican-leaning who prefer to continue our non-partisan tradition. It is not in any way irregular. It is our normal way of doing things. If you want to know where a candidate stands, I suggest you ask them directly. Candidates should be speaking for themselves, not just mouthing the party lines and having the party speak for them. Even if someone had wanted to run as a Democrat, there is no mechanism for them to do so, because the Democratic Party in Giles County decided to continue the non-partisan tradition, and not join the Republican Primary or hold a caucus. Just as a reminder, the Republican Party could have held a caucus instead of the costly primary, and achieved the same effect of partisan candidates, without costing the taxpayers any money.

Giles County has traditionally been a Democrat county. Things are changing and it scares the "bejesus" out of the Dems. Just because the Democrats have always been in control, of course they want things to stay just the way it's always been.
There is a big difference between the D's and R's, and as a voter, I want to have as much information about a candidate as possible. I'm glad we had the primary and I think the Democrats should have one too. It's time to separate the sheep from the goats.
The main reason people who are democrats don't want it known is because it connects them directly to Barack Hussain Obama, Eric Holder, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and others of that perverted ilk.
You can not be a democrat without directly or indirectly supporting the democrat line. A line that has abortion on demand and taxpayer funded as its major goal. Amnesty for illegals is another push they are making along with tighter controls on gun ownership by private citizens. They have clearly made disarming citizens almost as high a priority as abortions. It's an outrage that the president has overreached the limits of his office so often to act more like a king than Representative of the people. The basic rule of law has been suspended by the current administration with illegal gunrunning to Mexico, an assisted invasion across our southern border; using the IRS to punish opponents and reward supporters; giving huge amounts of tax money to friends and contributors through bailouts and energy contracts. Every positive relationship we had with foreign governments has been weakened or severed. We continue to send billions of dollars to other countries while choking our own economy with over regulations. Our national debt under this drug user/dealer has grown to more than all the prior presidents combined. Never has one political party been guilty of such massive violations of the Constitution, not even Nixon was as accomplished a liar as Obama.
It's no wonder that most people do not want to be connected with the democrats at this time and have chosen the cowardly way of denial to slither undetected until they get elected and then watch what they do to us.
It is cowardly to refuse to stand up for what you believe in but a number of people very active in the democrat party in the county and sate and national level have chosen to do just that cowardly deny they are democrats.

4:54 I agree in part with your comments and certainly would not intentionally say that all democrats support the more liberal part of the party just as I would hope people would understand that not all republicans support the more radical conservatives. The problem is however when you identify with one group or the other you become a number in their system of empowerment. There may only be a hundred democrats of differing degrees but when the census is taken and money is being doled out and district lines are being drawn that 100 counts to empower regardless of what they may believe individually and of course it's the same with republicans. I was no fan of President Bush or of his daddy but the one thing I can say without reluctance is that Bush had an affection for the nations military where President Obama has shown nothing but contempt on a number of different levels. Look at the example of trading (without any notification to the congress as required by law) five high ranking terrorist for one cowardly deserter while at the same time doing nothing to free a Marine being held in atrocious conditions in Mexico.
You mention the executive orders and while Bush did indeed numerically issued more executive orders the vast majority was for mundane items such as recognition of state leaders to altering the hours some government buildings are open. Obama on the other hand has issued executive orders that changed the very fabric of the nation many in direct violation of his authority. I point to his illegal appointment to the National Labor Board that the Supreme Court recently over ruled. Look at the numerous executive orders he has issued that has changed the Affordable Care Act which has essentially made new law in direct opposition to the U.S. Constitution. Look at the way he has used the IRS, and destroyed or weakened all positive relationships with our allies around the world.
You mention registering your guns, I would be interested in where you did that and why. The Tennessee State Constitution prohibits any requirement for gun registration. You might be interested that in the past month the EPA in cahoots with Homeland Security has conducted heavily armed raids by black clothed masked agents on over forty families and confiscated their Land Rovers. Their reasoning is that they do not meet the EPA's environmental standards even though each of the vehicles were "grandfathered" example from those requirement by virtue of being over 25 years old.
I would strongly agree with your thought of basing my decision to support a candidate more on what they have done rather than what letter followers their name. A person that tries to hide their affiliation however shows themselves to be a coward and dishonest. Several running in local races have clearly tried to hide their very close association with the democrats even when it's well known that they have been in leadership roles with those parties.

You might be surprised at the answers you get if you ask people about the Tennessee Constitution, most of the people I have asked about it did not even know we have a State Constitution. Really makes me concerned over what isn't being taught to our children. Anyway I wanted to send this bit of information which you may already know.
Article One Section 26 of the Tennessee State Constitution states:
“That the citizens of this State have a right to keep and to bear arms for their common defense; but the Legislature shall have power, by law, to regulate the wearing of arms with a view to prevent crime."
This is the state requirements for Rifles, Shotguns and Handguns
There is no state requirement for the registering, licensing or permit to purchase Rifles, Shotguns or handguns. There is no state requirement to carry a rifle or shotgun. The state does require a carry permit for handguns.
Federal Law puts special restrictions on licensed firearm dealers such as you must be 21 or older to purchase a handgun; you must be 18 or over to purchase a rifle or shotgun; each firearm sold must have a federal form 4473 completed.

I think the language and the accusations on this blog serve to prove what I have been saying for quite awhile now. This blog is going to get some people hauled into court or to a hospital or funeral home one of these days. And the blogmaster will be held AT LEAST partly to blame.
I for one have been cursed, threatened, and falsely accused of things I would never do, but mine are trivial compared to what's going on here about the accusations of affairs and such trash.
When and if all who have posted are "revealed", there will be lots of legal trouble since there is an allowed anonymous provision here. However, those who have created the current firestorm of people having affairs should be revealed for all to see.

That doesn't scare me if you are referring to someone trying to do me harm because of my OPINIONS AND VIEWS I strive to live a clean Christian life, but will, without question, quickly defend myself and what's mine. This is supposedly a free speech blog that allows for anonymous posts. When that provision is removed, I will have no choice but to leave this blog. I'm sure you'd like that. If Barrett wants the provision for anonymous posts to be removed, I think it would be up to him to make that decision and not you. And if those names are revealed and the blogmaster has not removed the provision, would you not think he would also be held legally liable in a court of law? I believe he would be at least partly liable just as he would if someone's name was given out and a shooting resulted. And you have to admit that there have been some pretty terrible things said on this blog, especially lately. The accusations about having affairs and such make me want to vomit. But I think that sort of trash is exactly what this blog has become, especially if it's directed at me or those who believe and think as I do.
Having an anonymous provision does not give posters carte blanche in their actions. Some of the comments on here, including some made by the enabler, are definitely grounds for legal action. You can use the anonymous provision to hide your identity for personal reasons; you can not use it to say whatever you please about someone. A crap storm is most certainly on the way. I warned you that attacking your opponents would do you in, and it did. People do not trust finger pointers and accusers. That's because those who engage in such activity are usually the ones who in reality cannot be trusted. Think about that.

Your mathematical theory can be skewed anyway you want it, but the fact remains that your candidate lost. Had it been Mrs. Vanzant against either of the two, she would have won by a large margin. I believe my theory is just as plausible as yours.
I didn't lose any elections for anybody. And besides, Mrs. Coleman won. Guess who came in a distant last place AGAIN? Mr. Harwell beat him by a pretty big margin. What about that?
