i question the objectivity of the school board. how can they be objective when most have a close relative working in the school system? most members of the board do not have the experience or background to do an objective evaluation. we cannot make improvements in our schools until we get an independent objective school board.

I am going to ask again. EXACTLY what are the points that he is evaluated on? How does he get such a good score? Either the right questions are being asked on his evaluations or he is doing a good job. If he is doing a bad job and the score is good then obviously the evaluations questions are a not a reflection of what he is doing. Who does the evaluation questions? Are they the same evaulation questions that have always been done or did they change with Jackson? Does anyone know the answer to these? Can someone who has the evaluation post those on here?

2-21 5:51 What is your point?

According to the local paper - Board Chairman Norman and Director Jackson publicly announced another "no new money" budget (for 2009?). They obviously are the voice of the school board majority. This is the fourth year in a row for those words on the front page of the paper. The other phrases of "no increase", and "no increase in years" has also flooded quotes and conversation over the past four years. Ms. Norman stated, "we look forward to another stellar year."

The words, "no, new, money, increase, in, and years", all have very finite meanings easily found in "Websters". It is way past time for education leaders & followers to refresh our memory on what the phrases literally mean, and show the citizens that spending is still $22,401,759 as in 2004, $23,744,802 as in 2005, or any other year thereafter.

"Stellar" means star filled. Does it mean "shoot for the moon" is no longer enough spending and taxation? Is there truth in saying there is "no new money", but revenue and spending increases? Is there truth in saying no increase, when you know you had more than before? Is there truth is claiming no increase in years, when there is a flood of "more" every year?

With that in mind, if I ask the state board of education what this means, and they reply, "everything is OK", is it OK?

I think when you look at the budget you have to know what is state money and what is county. There have been at a couple of new grants in the school in the last two or three years. There is Leaps & Bounds and also the new health program that has been started. I believe there has also been other grants. Some of these are involving supervisors being hired for these programs. More administration that HAD to be hired. You folks don't see the whole picture when you look. You need to sit down and discuss with someone what these positions are and don't ASS-U-ME that they are giving raises to admin. The supervisors get the same raise that teachers do. And if At-Risk money is being mispent it will be caught because auditing of that spending is being done all over the state.

Take the 2007 audited sales tax number and deduct the same audited value for 2004, and then very slowly say, "$505,679 is NO NEW MONEY", over and over 25,283,950 times, and when done, you will have your two cents worth of the real increase of $505,679 in ctual new money for just sales tax!

Is there a logical explaination why the director and chaiman of the board of education loudly claim there is no increase - no new money - when there is a mother load of it that wasn't there before!

If you're going to wave the flag and tote the Bible, better brush up on what it means.

The flag is founded on the Bible. The Bible is real clear on deception, coveting, idol worship, and all kinds of corruption. God loves his children, especially the little ones with tender impressionable minds, especially when they are thrown in the midst of corruption.

What I think isn't necessarily going to change anything. What you think and do, does, to you. You see, the One in charge knows what you do and think - secrets simply don't exist at that level.

You can manipulate the books to look good in spite of runaway spending, cook the books & hide money, lie to loyal employees that you have no money, and claim millions of new money isn't new money; but bottom line you are two bit crooks waiting for someone to put the cuffs on your wrists! If some of us dum butt rednecks with no education know all this, do you think the Man in charge doesn't know your every conniving thought?

By the way, don't talk down to me about my Bible knowledge. Nobody has a corner on that market. While we are on the subject of Bible principles, let me just tell you that my Bible teaches against jealousy, spreading rumors, hatred, envy, and on and on.
Yes, I'm answerable to the "man upstairs", and I consider that every day of my life. Don't you?

Hasn't been any tax increases & you're going to have to fess up on the money! You are a minority & people are fed up with your know it all crooked ways.

I'm sure you know the Bible forwards & backwards, but like satan, you only recite it backwards. don't see anyone envious or jealous of anything you do or stand for. Were does it say anyone should defend deceit, lust, idolatry, taking from the poor childs school roof to build a temple to moral relativism? where are your facts to dispute the fact that no money is BS? PS - the Book is full of little stories about how much God hates deception, including some real nasty things he made happen to those wo do nothing about it! What's done is out of love for God and country. The, You're not worth one second of bitter hatred, doesn't mean it will not change!

The good news is, God forgives almost anything if you repent & change your ways. Try it - you might be able to sleep for a change.

I missed the open house for the new central office.

Does it connect with the old building?

Does the Board of Education still meet in the same old room upstairs or has this been moved to the new building?

I remember some of the old offices were closets. They really need more room.

You are nuts (describing behavior) if you think I have a solitary thing to do with county offices. Furthermore, if there is solid proof of such things as fraud and embezzlement, I would ALWAYS stand on the side of justice for the guilty. But, I am not the judge, jury, and executioner, and neither are you.
As for God's grace and forgiveness, I think I am the best judge of my relationship to Him. I sleep very well at night when my arthritis isn't acting up. How about you?

I don't have to wonder about my arthritis. I got it from many years of athletics. But that's none of your business, right?

The answer lies within the rating, and the obvious commonality of criteria shared by the raters and the ratee. One criterion is money, the ability to snatch it by any means, the ability to dispatch same with power, poise, and assuredness, and the ability to make the process look like it is for the good of mankind. Another criterion is the ability to corrupt the language to make bad look good and more look like less, except when it comes to performance where less output looks like more.

In the end analysis, the common thread of rate, rating, rater, ratee, ratchet (as in notching things up without notice), and even ratification of extended contracts with lush fruits befitting love, we find the prime derivation of logic - the root word, "rat". When put to the pristine test of neurological stress, "rat" makes sense. The Latin derivation of "rodo", as in gnawing also fits a picture of turning a storehouse of corn into a pile of corn cobs and little brown droppings instead of rich golden kernels of corn. Rodo is proud of what he does and is not ashamed to be called a rat. The characteristics we are trying to cipher indicate great efforts to hide and deny that which they do plus an outright indignation at the word "rat".

One might surmise that the rodos of Giles county may be related to roto rooters, but that would get us into evolution, instead of the convolution at hand. I appears there is little that can be done to deter varmints that have plagued mankind since the beginning of time. Pucker up and enjoy the ride!

Interesting. The know-it-alls just can't stand it that our school system has been recognized for excellence. I suppose it's very difficult to acknowledge something positive when all you seem to talk about is negative. What a laugh that is!

Do any of you actually work IN the schools? It would take approximately a nano-second after stepping into GCHS to understand the lack of administrating the overwhelming abundance of corrupt politics and the non-existence of focus on EDUCATION!! I witnessed this very day students graduating that are borderline illiterate, and several seniors that should not be - simply because the principal has no tact, leadership qualities or sense and strokes the ego of an Alabamian resident ready to raise property tax in GC to support teacher raises. My suggestion is for Mayors of Ardmore to stay mayors of Ardmore and leave the principals job to someone really interested in the betterment of the students of GC. I didn't graduate from GCHS but I can tell you with certainty that even an uneducated student (due to administrative actions not necessarily the teachers) are not given the opportunity to learn as they are too busy covering up wrongs and misappropriating funds for purposes of FOOTBALL. Ask any student if they have ANY respect for their principal. A person would be hard pressed to find a single soul in that faculty, staff or student body that did. From that you can easily deduce that with no leader the school is on a clear course for failure. This isn’t brain surgery folks. Simple math. If admin, teachers, directors, and parents would try taking their heads out of the sand and refocusing on actually educating these kids the crime, gang activity, teen pregnancy, welfare overload and all around failure rate of this county would be grossly effected. Take away football at GCHS and see how many dedicated teachers stay and see who leaves. Investigate substantiated claims of staff misconduct, funds and general practices and Tee Jackson along with GCHS would fail miserably in any kind of audit. The masses, however, are joining together. There will be a presence yet seen at the BOE meetings like none other. Get ready, the boat is about to be ROCKED!

Well that is so funny, because it seems as though football has just gotten started. That is one postive area of our school that keeps kids involved in a program lead by great men. I play football and a lot of my friends do as well. What football does for us is: it keeps our grades up, it teaches us dicipline and keeps us busy and out of trouble. I am sure the boys at RHS feel the same way.
By the way, we are the sport that brings in the most gate sales to help our school out.
