School System Secrecy????

According to the "Pulaski Citizen" dated 16 March 2010 during a work session of the school board a recommendation was made that the school board adopt the policy of not making public the names of donors making gifts to the school system.

To withhold this information would not only be a violation of the state open records law but would open the door for those doing business with the school system to give kick-backs to those involved in negotiations. An example would be a milk vendor gives the school system a $10,000.00 gift a week later that same vendor is given a contract to supply milk and ice cream to the school system. Now, that doesn't necessarily mean there's any wrongdoing taking place but if this information isn't made public, well you can see the possibilities have greatly increased for wrongdoing.
Another example might result in special treatment of an individual. Would it be possible to buy a position on a sports team or academic award if the parents made a large monetary donation to the school?
I fear if this policy is adopted by the school board and secrecy is allowed to cover the activities and contributions of businesses and individuals the possibility for abuse is too great to justify. All gifts and the givers should be made public so there can be no questions as the the appropriateness of business being conducted by our officials. Allen Barrett

Yep. I guess you are talking about the Alsup Ins. agency rebate that is made to the school dept? Can only assume the school board is trying to pass this policy to cover Alsup?

Not board but director. Board would like to use money for things that students could use and need feed Tee and his little followers. Ask previous board members how fat they got off the Alsup fund.

This type of secrecy does seem to reek of impropriety. Unfortunately this seems to be nothing new for Giles County. I am not a native of Giles but I have lived here since I was three years old and I know this type of activitiy has gone on for a long time. Since the more elite have usually been involved, these things have been swept under the proverbial rug.

If anyone seems to object then those in the "know" tell us to "mind our own business".

Elites? Are we having a fit of class envy? If you are so unhappy with the way things are, you can always move somewhere else where you will be more appreciated. Don't you think?

No I chose not to leave but to stay here and try to make a difference. I may not have made much progress but I can see the effect of some of my efforts. Have you made any efforts toward improving society---have you seen the results????

God help us all to try to right the wrongs of our society---whether we cause them or not.

No, I choose to be a law-abiding (not saying you aren't) citizen who doesn't run around town calling people names and making accusations. If I don't like an elected official, I use my voting right to help get them out of office. I also use my vote in an effort to stop those who don't meet with my approval. I think that's the actual democratic process. I don't have to justify myself or beat upon my chest and proclaim myself a champion of righting wrongs.

You have a right to say things against him, just don't pretend you don't.
I wish everyone in Giles County could be as perfect as you.

WAB I have a question? Sorry if this is not the right place, but did not know of another way to contact you. Why and how does Pulaski Elem.receive a list of people who are in the process of or have just recently filed bankrupcty or divorce? What business is it of theirs to know this info? This is a list of some people who have no children in school system? I just found this out last week & was just curious. Thanks in advance for your replies.

hummmm, didn't Jesus cast out demons from some folks, well they had to be acting like demons before they were cast out. So they had to be treated like they were demons in order for those demons to be cast out. But don't worry 4:44 someday they will be cast out of you, getting the stupid out may take a lot more effort.

to 4:44 and 6:31
When one considers a lie to be the intentional expression of things untrue then you have lied, intentionally misled and mis-characterized me. In fact under that definition you have even lied about yourself.
One example is you continued to spread information you claimed to be from "a reliable source" about Knox County having "problems and attempting to do away with their charter. Even after that source was proven to be unreliable and that there was no such effort underway you continued to spread that untruth. You have accused me of being; un-Christian, un-willing to pray others, a trouble maker; and many things unworthy of a response.
Yet you have denied your own culpability in enabling wrongdoing, corruption and the support of those engaged in such actions.
You have attempted, in my opinion the lowest form of insincerity, to cloak yourself in righteousness and religion (mostly man made not God made)in your condemnation of others and self elevations. You remind me very much of those in Mark 5 who pleaded with Jesus to leave their area after he had driven the demons out of the man possessed. They also preferred the ease of dealing with demons to the difficulties of facing and defeating demons. Allen Barrett

I never accused you of being un-Christian, but I did question your behavior in terms of how Christians treat others. I offer my opinions, and I thought that was my right. I did suggest a time or two if it would not be better to pray for rather than condemn people. I never said you were unwilling to do that.
There you go again accusing me of enabling wrongdoings and corruption. That is simply not true.
You say I remind you of people mentioned in Mark 5, while refusing to consider things God hates as found in Proverbs or Psalms. Sorry, but I don't have my Bible in front of me, or I would cite for you the exact scriptures.
I hope this has cleared up some of your misunderstandings.

To 4:45 Sir you not only have questioned my Christianity you have questioned my legitimacy to be a minister and accused me directly of not praying for "those I dislike". You have claimed to know the most intimate parts of my heart and reasoning along with my very motivation for practically every action. Each of these things can easily be looked up on various postings by you cut and pasted to this thread and once reveal you to be a hypocritical liar, but that would really be a waste of time as you in your usual way would deny it was you or you meant something else.
You write, "You say I remind you of people mentioned in Mark 5, while refusing to consider things God hates as found in Proverbs or Psalms. Sorry, but I don't have my Bible in front of me, or I would cite for you the exact scriptures."
What I actually said was, "You remind me very much of those in Mark 5 who pleaded with Jesus to leave their area after he had driven the demons out of the man possessed. They also preferred the ease of dealing with demons to the difficulties of facing and defeating demons." Not having your Bible there with you and not knowing the verses you speak of, this information is when your own post, I would expect you to remain quiet in that area until you know more about what you're talking about but of course if we waited until you knew what you were talking about we would not be reading any more post from you now would we? You would "expect" me to remain quiet in those areas? What a laugh. Well, since I didn't have my Bible in front of me, let me just say that I was referring to some of the things God hates, among those feet that are swift to mischief and those who stir up strife. Just because I didn't have my Bible with me does NOT mean that I am ignorant of what It says.
It seems to me that it's perfectly acceptable for you to call people names and to make accusations about them, but it's wrong for anybody to question you? You know, if you're going to play this game, you ought to expect pretty much what you yourself dish out. Isn't that fair?

6:24 if you would take the time and read Prov 6:16-19 which is a group of six things the Lord hates you would see that it's not only about swift feet but a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, heart that devises wicked plans, false witness who speak lies and one who sows discord among brethren.
So if one applies to WAB as you claim how about applying the two about lying to Vanzant, and the heart that devised wicked plans to yourself as you have defended wicked behaviors by defending wrongdoing and trying to make it seem right.
