5.3 % Increase In County Insurance Premiums To Be Paid By The County?
When the County Commission’s Budget and Insurance Committee
met to discuss county employees insurance I wonder how many realized they would
leave the room having approved a 5.3 percent pay increase for those county
workers? I realize that 5.3 % isn't the actual amount of money they will receive in their paycheck but it is the amount they will not have to pay out of their paycheck for insurance.
It never ceases to amaze me that when they chose to, the
county authorities can just pull $42,000.00 out of some secret hat, of course
at other times there are other even larger amounts to be pulled out of that
hat. Now to make this and even great feat of magic this $42,000.00 is to be
used from the “Janitorial Fund” but wait, just what janitorial fund are we
talking about? There was a move to
contract the janitorial services out to a company in Alabama that was supposed
to save the county over a $100,000.00 a year and from that there would
certainly have been enough money to cover the $42,000.00 in recurring spending
for salaries, but there's a fly in the buttermilk. The contract with the
janitorial services in Alabama was cancelled by Mrs. Vanzant, no real explanation
was given (I suspect it involved some very unhappy janitors and their supporters
who have helped Mrs Vanzant get elected and will be needed again when she seeks
re-election). With that contract cancelled janitorial personnel were re-hired
and the full expense for the service had to be re-introduced into the budget,
so where did the $42,000.00 for insurance actually come from? A magic hat or
just the same kind of old fashioned manipulation that has dragged this county
down for 200 years?
Now here’s a question I wish someone would answer for me,
why are so much of a county employee’s insurance being paid for by the county
to begin with? Most counties require their employees to pay at least 25% of their
premiums Giles County requires they pay less than 10%.
When you consider that we continue to lose population and
that the population still here continues to lose income how do you justify
spending more and more? Our property tax
rates are among the highest in the state, our services are among the lowest but
we continue on without a plan or direction just jumping from one crisis to
another.
The hospital money is now gone and several commissioners are
drooling over the idea of a wheel tax and even more property taxes. We just had
a large phantom property tax increase levied by the tax assessors revaluing
property upwards. If you don’t believe that then ask the tax assessor if they will take in more money this year than last year.
So, back to the 5.3% pay increase for county employees. We
may ask ourselves do the county employees deserve a 5.3% pay increase. I’m sure
that some do and some deserve much more than that but then there are some who
have ridden the system for years with doing little more than swatting a fly
while at work. There is no such thing as a forty hour work week for courthouse employees. Facts bear out that
county workers with their benefits are far better compensated on average than
are citizens in non- county jobs. I would ask and challenge the newspaper and
radio station to release information on just how many people in the county pay
as little as $50.00 as their share of medical insurance. Even those living on
Social Security are paying more each month for Medicare than are our county
employees. It’s not about what the workers deserve, just as with the fast food
workers striking for $15.00 an hour, it’s about what the county can afford and
the taxpayers of the county are at their limit as to what they can pay. It’s past time Commissioners and the County
Executive realize they do not represent only the county employees but the
citizenry as a whole and keep that in mind when voting.

Barrett, why don't you run for County Executive and solve all our problems.... You could even hire your buddy Mooney back as your personal assistant! Two quacks in one pond!
No put Mooney in charge of finances, beer board and adult entertainment! Shirly Proud could be your sexitary, and old Bill as your personal assistant since yours and his grooming/wardrobe are so similar! Who else would be on your staff?
7:41 you would have to be on that staff and work in animal control, you just run around behind the dogs with your mouth open and catch each pile of crap they give you. On second though that's the job you already have except you only run behind one bitch and catch her crap but that's what happens when you have your head up vanzant's arse.
To the poster Aug. 2, 7:41 AM
Congratulations !
You just added yourself to a select list of posters who are in-process of being pursued to the maximum extent of the Hate speech laws .
Prouds
I'm sure you are really scaring the hell out of everybody, Prouds. Remember, to prove libel or hate speech, you have to show that what people say isn't true. You put yourselves in positions to have citizens be critical of you just as Barrett and every other person that constantly complains in the local meetings and media. If you can't take cruel statements, remove yourself from the public eye.
Actually Freedom of Speech allows me to say whatever I want. But the law doesn't protect me from the consequences of my speech. In other words they must prove they have been damaged. Calling someone fat or ugly doesn't damage them unless maybe they were trying to win a prize for their beauty. No worries there!
Hey Prouds! Explain your Hate Speech Laws that you claim. Or is this simply another one of your bully tactics to try and scare someone. You all scare me enough just looking at you! Go back to the cave you came out of! It had to me MAMMOTH I'm sure (in size).
Prouds! I HATE YOU! Am I going to jail now?
Bahahahah ! Them Prouds love to stir it up and dish it out but look now!
WAB,
You keep stating 5.3% raise and yet you do mention that it is not an accurate number in your post, but yet you keep stressing that. Here's a little math for everyone. The increase was to pay $625 instead of the current $590. So that's a $35/month increase. That is $420/year.
So if you make $7.25/hour that's a 2.79% raise. If you make $10.00/hour that's a 2.02% raise. If you make $15.00/hour that's a 1.35% raise. If you make $20.00/hour that's a 1.01% raise. And if you make $25.00/hour that's a 0.81% raise. (All of the above are based on 40 hours/week and 52 weeks/year.)
So again, although you make a tiny statement about it not being exactly right, you state over and over and even in the title that it is a 5.3% raise. The only way it would be a 5.3% raise is if the County employee's wage was $3.81/hour. Just please stick to the facts and stop trying to make mountains out of mole hills.

5:04,
First off, I don't see the Prouds getting past being laughed at when they try to pursue this.
Secondly, I wonder if they will be forced to produce all of the anonymous posts that have been damaging to others that they may have posted?
Lastly, bwahahahaha!
I didn't think hate speech applied to white folks.
Great post Mack! Way to smack dumbass thick skull WAB right upside that head! A man that can't do simple math shouldn't try to read a financial statement without assistance !
Prouds, can others join in your efforts to expose all the posters on this blog. What would it cost us?
Why don't you expose yourself, 7:55?
I am I just pulled it out and now I am pissing on your tire! Come outside and see!
Does Barrett have any legal exposure for the hatred we see posted on this blog? I think he does.
I believe there will be some lawsuits and potential trouble when and if anonymous posters are revealed. I can see people going after each other, and that's sad.
The hating needs to stop before someone gets hurt.
Is it adults acting like children posting on this blog?
I hope there isn't any adult in Giles County that was post things like this against another person.
5:05 What did the Prouds do to you to make you post things like that?
You sound like you are trying to make people think you are one of Giles County's elected or their child. You should be above acting like that.
Barrett, proud's, ray Lanier! They are all the same, TROUBLEMAKERS!!!
So it's ok for them to attack every body they don't like but when the tide is turned it is not ok for those people to attack back! Bull crap!!! I hope they rip all of the Barrett's, proud's and Lanier new ass holes!
1:33 What a big guy. What a laugh.
Of course 1:33 is a big guy. He's a graduate of Giles County High School and a star on the football team.
Mach you had better recheck your math. An increase from $590 to $625 is about 5.9%
Could it be that Mack is one of those county workers, perhaps in the finance office? That's the kind of math that let a million dollars disappear without a trace.
Start ripping, 1:33. You're obviously not frightened or you wouldn't have signed your name. Oh, wait dumbass, you didn't sign your name. Well well, I guess that makes you a coward as well as stupid, judging from your post. What did you do, let your youuger sibling write it for you. Wise move, fool. I'd say I'll be sseeing you, but we all know odd of that;zipster.
Ray
Dear 3:45 and 3:50,
I understand that $35 is 5.932% of $590.00. But a "raise" is an increase in salary/wages. Below is the "merriam-webster" definition. Definition of RAISE
1
: an act of raising or lifting
2
: a rising stretch of road : an upward grade : rise
3
: an increase in amount: as
a: an increase of a bet or bid
b: an increase in wages or salary
4
: a vertical or inclined opening or passageway connecting one mine working area with another at a higher level
Therefore, the percentage of a raise that the $35.00/month is per employee is purely dependent upon the salary/wage the employee makes in a month. Therefore, you can see my percentages are based upon the wages of the employee. So again, employees are not receiving a 5.9% raise. The insurance amount paid per employee has increased by 5.9%, but the employee is not receiving a 5.9% raise. If you don't understand this, please visit http://www.payraisecalculator.com/ and type in your values to see what the "raise" is based on the employee's current pay. (And just to help you further because I'm not sure you'll understand how to use the website either, the $35/month times 12 months is $420/year increase. $420 divided by 52 weeks in a year divided by 40 hours in a week is a $0.2019/hour increase. So if you type in the first space the current amount the employee makes per hour and then the increase is $0.2019/hour, the website will calculate thier "raise".) I don't know how to make it any simpler to explain this concept. I would suggest you contact a local middle school math teacher if you still are confused.
-Mack
How much did the insurance go up last year and how much did it go up this year?
Teachers had to pay what it went up last year. Now they want have to pay what it went up last year or even this year. Call it a raise or what ever you want to, but this year they will get what they had to paid last year more than they got a month last year. Good for them.
Wasn't last year the first time in years they had to pay their own insurance?
If a person gets more today than yesterday they got an increase. Barrett said it was not a salary but a benefit increase. Very few county employees work anywhere near 40 hrs a week and some less than 30.
Thank you for figuring the raise for me, I was thinking along that same line. So we agree there was no 5.3% raise, any way that you look at it but there was an increase in benefits. The insurance premium may have increased but the salary did not. MOST county employees don't make much, in fact most probably live below the poverty level.
You posted a lengthy explanation Mack but as it's been said it's still a raise. Unless Giles county is doing something different then most place, insurance is based on the number of employees and not an hourly rate.
Dear Dick W.,
I agree that it is still a raise. My point is that it's misleading saying it's a 5.3% pay increase as WAB did several times. It is a raise, but it's a much lower percentage than 5.3%. There are a lot of people on here that just read the initial post by WAB and take it as the gospel. I just wanted to show that the actual "raise" that most employees are going to receive is more in the 1-2% range. And those numbers I posted are based on a full calendar year, and this increase doesn't take effect until January. So that's something else to consider. The point of my posts are so people "think" for themselves and realize that WAB is often misleading (although stating the facts), he tends to skew the facts to fit his opinion. Nothing he posted was inaccurate, it was just misleading in my opinion. Most county employees haven't received pay raises in several years, so getting a 1-2% raise in January just doesn't ruffle my feathers.
Thanks,
-Mack
Here are some basic facts: county employees had a 5.3% increase in their insurance benefits. This is not the only increase during the past five years, just as insurance cost have shot upward for nearly every one else as well. The fact is county employees are paying far less for their insurance, while making much more than are those in the private sector or those who are retired and paying for medicare.
During those years with the exception of last year the county picked up the entire increase, last year the employee was asked to pay a small portion. Now, another fact to consider in your hourly estimations is that no one in the courthouse works a full forty hour week. Most are at thirty five and some are less than thirty yet are considered full time employees.
Now, here is my reasoning for stating the topic as I did. If there is a 5.3% increase in the cost of insurance and the employee was required to pay the full amount that would be money taken out of their paycheck. Now, since they are not required to pay that amount they get to keep the full 5.3% increase. That does not mean their salary is increased by 5.3% but that since the county will pay that increase the employee does not have a 5.3% decrease in the actual amount of money they receive. By receiving the 5.3% increase in benefits it is carried as a gain for the employee and legally must be included as income for tax purposes. The 5.3% will actually become more than 5.3% if the county pays the full amount as they are also obligated to pay the increased tax liability.
Where are the Prouds? Looks like a few posters made them keep quiet. Im sure they are both steaming mad about being called out on their bluff.
6:35 Grow up and act like a Christian.
I don't know the Prouds ever posted on the blog. I don't know who all the Anonymous are.
Ray sorry if you think I'm picking on you I'm not just saying I don't know you so your name could be an Alias as for as I know.
Does anyone know who Mack is?
Just because the Prouds aren't posting back to the silly remarks don't mean they aren't posting good post.
The Prouds are out grazing!
How could a company save $100,000 on janitorial? There are not that many janitors! They do rehire the janitors now employed and within 6 months none of them will be working for the company. They rehire the staff. Call any of those people who contract with them and find out how many of the original employees are still with the company after six months. Almost none.
Don't sweat the small stuff, 8:40, no offense taken. Ray is my real name, however. Feel free to address me as such. Peace.
Ray
Where is the Proud family from? When did they move here? Have they always lived here? All I know of them is the nonsense and trouble I hear about them causing and the silly articles in the paper.
You should probably reserve judgement until you have met them. I found them to be charming and interesting people. You miss out on a lot of fine folks by relying on stuff you hear.
Ray
Ray, birds of a feather flock together! Isn't it true they were run out of their former home, for causing trouble. I think it is hilarious how a few total outsiders can move in to Giles county and think they are going to change it overnight! Ever thought that most of us natives like it like this! If you want to be a new Yorker, then move your ass to new York!
9:28, I'm sure I do not know anything about the Prouds being run out of anywhere. I was posting my opinion on my experience with them, not a bunch of gossip. You might try that occasionally. Who knows, your family tree might actually fork if you stop being so narrow-minded.
BTW, I've been to New York, didn't much care for it. I was born and raised right here; think I'll stick around for awhile.
Ray
Why did you go to New York? You and your boyfriend go Lobby for same sex marriage?
I posted this comment a while back and it still holds true today and probibly into the future.
There are certain laws of nature that cannot be broken, such as the effect of gravity. An other natural law is when certain "natives" of any area (including Giles County, Tennessee) are scared of open opinions and open minds, they attack the person and not the subject. That is the way it was, the way it currently is and and will always be. There are those in Giles County that think because they are "native" that gives them the right to dictate how life is to be lived and the way things are run. They are happy with the status quo and do not want change.
OK, lets go back to dirt roads and streets. Lets stop public drinking water and waste water systems. Lets get rid of telephones and especially television. Lets get rid of Wal-Mart. Lets go back to 5 cents an hour wage. Lets go back to when women had no say or vote.
You "natives" just don't get it. Giles County is changing, every day it changes; a bit at a time. You can either stop bickering and attacking eachother; or, get thinking together and develop plans to improve Giles County into the future. If you spent the energy you spend attacking others and channeled that energy into community good; this would be a very fine place.
But, you will continue to bitch and whine and conduct personal attacks.
By the way, go back far enough and your family was not from here, and they were not "native".
928. All you needed to complete that post was a whooping "Yee-haw". It'd have taken us back about 150 years.
And related back to the topic, arguments can be made about raise or not a raise, but the simple crappy part of it is that the rest of the people who are not on the county dole have to cover their own expenses. Glad they have a good job, but many do not and can't find one in Pulaski, and now they have to continue to support increases for those who do. Hard to swallow in tough times. In sure this post will be attacked by some who it hits close to home but oh well the truth hurts.
Actually Ray was there lobbying to be able to marry his dog!
Have you ever thought it was your approach? Instead of creating an anonymous blog post blasting anything and everything you don't like about Giles county ruffling feathers with every post! Consider going at it on a positive approach! You might get somewhere with us that are natives and we enjoy and appreciate the way of life in Giles county! Sure we would like to see improved quality of life but don't try to make us something we aren't!
I wonder why some of you haven't built a fence around Giles county and not let anyone else in years ago.
You've hear the saying how hard it is on a new student in a school. Take a look at how the adults act on here and you will see why they are mistreated by the native school students.
The sad part is probably most of the ones acting like children on the blog are elected officials or their relatives. If not why do they have their drawers in such a wad?
6:18/9:45, do y'all ever lie awake at night and think to yourselves,"Oh man, why did I click on that damned submit button?" You really should if that's the best comeback ya got. For Heaven's sake, at least proofread your posts. 6:18, why in the hell would you capitalize "lobby" in the context that you used it? And 9:45, if you're going to begin a sentence with "Actually", please don't forget to follow it with a comma. I don't mind being insulted, but being insulted by half-wit, inbred dumbasses is more than I can take. You're welcome.
Ray
Pretty weak Ray if that is your only response! Maybe you could get a job as a proof reader somewhere! A job! Wow did you ever thing of that Ray!
Ray:
Before you attack posters about their needing to proofread their posts, go check out your post from Saturday, August 03, 2013 5:56:00 PM. YOU need to proofread!
He isn't smart enough to respond with anything that makes any sense whatsoever so he attracts the best he can! Poor Ray!
6:47 Does he attract or attack?
If it wasn't for spell check, the thesaurus suggestions and the copy & paste option, Ray wouldn't have anything to say.
In reference to 11:11's post-
Ray would be able to post on this blog if those tools did not exist. He would post a lot of incoherent, misspelled words. It wouldn't be much different than the garbage he posts now. Either way, he never makes any sense. Don't give him too much credit for his simple use of computer tools. Even my five year old can use Microsoft Word and Google...
What rude people posting on this blog.
I've never seen anything against Mrs.Vanzant and the Commissioners as bad as I've seen people post against the Prouds and Ray Lanier. I don't know the Prouds or Ray. I thought parents taught their children in Giles County to act better than some of you do.
Ray, you must of stole someone's girl friend when you were in school and they can't get over it.
For the Prouds: Everyone in Giles County don't dislike new comers to Giles County like a few do.
Get to know them! Then you will see why everyone dislikes them so!
Get to know who?
When you dislike someone do you have the need to get on the blog and trash them? 1:15 How about telling what they did to you to make you act like a child.
Really, dumbasses? Why should I take any of you pitiful excuses seriously? Not the first one of you -- if it is indeed more than one -- has the nerve or conviction to sign your irrelevant comments. Own what you say, cowards, or admit that it's something you would never say to my face. Better still, don't admit it. I think it's already fairly obvious to everyone on here.
Ray
If you ever came out of that pig stye of a shack you call a house then we would say it to your face. When you live off the government you don't have to, do you? I'd be scared I would catch some horrific disease just but walking in that dump!
9:40 Grow up.
If you let me know who you are, I will personally come beat the shit out of you for Ray, 9:40. That is a promise.
It is wonderful that we live in a Christian community where people are willing to accept others as they are without strife.
At least that is what is touted at the breakfast meeting around town.
I am not a native of Giles County but since I am from the south most of you would never know it unless you ask me who my mama or grandmama was. When we came here our kids went to Richland and were not welcomed with open arms. My son started getting sick in the mornings and for the fist time did not want to go to school. I don't think you would exactly call this a warm welcome to the community. Instead of making us "outsiders" feel so unwelcome why don't you welcome everyone into the community. My family did not cause any stir in the community nor did we have strong opinions that you might not agree with but we were still treated like poorly. Our family has kind of just blended in through the years and now it is fine but I still get those looks when I mention where we came from. Maybe there should be a different tax rate for us foreigners, after all my family did not help clear the reeds from town creek when the town was built.
If the city and county governments dont want 'outsiders' asking questions or having opinions they should remove the 'outsiders' from the tax rolls. Where would the government coffers be then?
9:30 You can see how some people post on here how they treat new comers to Giles County.
I was born and raised in Giles County and welcome new people. Our young people have to leave Giles County to get a job.
When I see someone post "go back where you come from" or "leave" my blood boils. New people to Giles County pay taxes same as the stuck up ignorant ones. Maybe they need to buy up all the land and build a fence around Giles County.
Thanks, 4:29, but don't hold your breath waiting for that to happen. The only thing more prevalent than ignorance in some of these posters is cowardice. Good luck.
Ray
Ray, help Barrett come up with another stupid post topic! You guys are slacking. We need entertainment in Giles county! But you are probably at the fair checking out the swine exhibits for your next wife!
Hey 10:31, Ray saved a piece of shit because it looked like one of your family members. But how can you tell, all you pieces of shit look just alike.
Ray wouldn't save a piece of shit, he would eat it! Guess that is why his breath always smells like shit!
August 16 at 4:14
You have proven that the "native" "good-old-boys" of this area have a collective IQ that is less than the football with which you play.
4:14, have you been kissing me while I was asleep again? You are so sneaky, babe. Don't let any of your inbred friends know that you like doing that to other fellows, they might get jealous. See you soon, sweetie.
Ray
Some of you people are really sick and need some serious help.
Ray,
That Yankee reference to inbreds has really gotten old, don't you think? There are just as many (if not more) of the so-called inbreds up North than I have ever seen down here.
My reference to inbreds had nothing to do with geographical locations but rather with underdeveloped brains. Many folks everywhere have family trees that do not fork. I never implied that being inbred was synonymous with the south.
Ray
You see what we have here is failure to assimulate. That's the way we've done it for the last 200 years and the way we are going to continue to do it.
Amen to that, Giesl County living in the past and pround home of the Klan.
8:13
Incorrect. The actual birthplace of the Klan was in Georgia. Do some research on that.
Living in the past is also incorrect. The people of Giles County do not want a little group who thinks they know it all to come in here believing they have some mandate to change us and to tell us what we ought to do and think. Now, if they are unhappy with that, they can always "unassimilated" back to wherever they came from or to some utopia where all the citizens are as enlightened as they are. What about that?
"What about that?" is that you seem to be the main one threatened by anyone not born and bred here. Try opening up that closed mind of yours and stop telling people to leave. Based on the majority of your posts, you are as unhappy as anyone so perhaps you should be the one to leave.
Its not just about being born here you also have to be born into the right family and be groomed to play your part of overseer.
8:29 don't know if you are trying to re-write history or just show your total ignorance of it. Every credible source of identifies Pulaski, Tennessee as the birthplace of the KKK. It was organized in 1865 under the leadership of Gen. Forrest. The building where it was organized is recognized by the National Registry with a plaque (now turned backward) on its exterior wall.
While Gen. Forrest disbanded the Klan a few years later, its rebirth in Indiana and Georgia came many years later. Before you begin to lecture others on history, based on your record anything else, you need to become much better prepared. Your ignorance of history is only matched by your ignorance of what most people want for themselves in this town. A small group already controls this county and that is where the problem lies.
Please folks, don't confuse 8:29 with facts; his brain can't take it. He knows what the truth is and by GOD he AIN'T changing his mind. What was good 200 years ago is good enough for him now.
So go back to well water or springs; dirt paths, no cars, noe electricity, no Wal-Mart (not a bad thing), no TV (GOD help him he just might have to read), no High School football (no football at all), no righrt forwomen and only the white man in charge.
Yup them were the good old days when the good old boys ran everything.
11:45
Expend a little mental energy, and you will find that the roots of the KKK are found in Georgia. I would also suggest that you go to You Tube and view some of the videos. One of particular interest to you may be "The KKK Formed by Former Democrats Who Opposed Equality for Blacks". Check it out. And Democrats have NEVER been friends to the blacks. They merely duped them for their votes.
1:16
You are insane with jealousy. If you want to be a part of this community, that's fine.
If you want to become an elected official, you should consider that you will never be successful as long as you spew hatred and condescension toward others.
Take a look at Barrett, for example. I don't think he could be elected to anything on the table here in Giles County. Do you want to be like him?
Sorry, 3:39, but you are mistaken about the origins of the Klan. The first Klan was founded by six veterans of the Confederate Army in 1865 in the city of Pulaski. It was not until 1915 that the second Klan was formed in Atlanta, Georgia. Although it is nothing to be proud of, I just thought I'd set the record straight. The plaque stating such is indeed turned around backwards on a building owned my Don Massey. Such is our history.
Ray
Ding Dong!!!
Q: Where did the original Ku Klux Klan start?
• Answer: Page 1 of 2
The first branch of the Ku Klux Klan was established in Pulaski, Tennessee, in May, 1866. A year later a general organization of local Klan's was established in Nashville in April, 1867. Most of the leaders were former members of the Confederate Army and the first Grand Wizard was Nathan Forrest, an outstanding general during the American Civil War. During the next two years they terrorised and killed black Americans, sympathetic whites and immigrants, who they blamed for the election of Radical Republicans. Between 1868 and 1870 the Ku Klux Klan played an important role in restoring white rule in North Carolina, Tennessee and Georgia. At first the main objective of white supremacy organizations such as the Ku Klux Klan was to stop black

Did you get your education in Giles County? If so you must of failed History. lol
I hope you aren't an example of the people in Giles County.
Lighten up, 6:46, everybody makes mistakes. Why, I remember one time in particular when I thought I was wrong but it turned out I was right. See, nobody's perfect.I was right, so I guess I come about as close as anyone does.
10:26
That individual saw red on this one. I was told ny ann elderly lady who was raised in Georgia that the KKK started there. She told horrific tales of how mean they were...hanging people and the like. I suppose she thought that's where the Klan started, and I took her at her word. It appears I was wrong, because it did in fact start here. However, I'm not sure the local Klan was about hanging people because of their skin color, etc. According to her, the "mean one" started in Georgia. She stated that the local Klan was all about going after men who beat their wives, mistreated their children, etc. I do advocate for nor believe in the Klan, but it wouldn't hurt to have the heck beat out of a few child molesters, wife beaters, etc.
5:46
And before that individual at 6:46jumps all over me for the last sentence of my 5:46 post, please allow me to clear up an error. What I meant to say is that I do NOT advocate for nor believe in the Klan.
I've heard of a cross burning in Giles County and of the Klan beating two different men up in Giles County.
The men were WHITE!! So the Klan wasn't always about the blacks.
5:46 is absolutely correct about the purpose of the original klan. It was more about making sure people in general acted right and not necessarily about "keeping blacks in their place." Also, 5:46, thanks for admitting that your were mistaken. It happens to all of us, although few are willing to admit. Peace.
Ray
Ray, I've never been too proud to admit when I was wrong. Take care.
practice makes perfect!
It's a big jump from county employee insurance to the Klan. Don't quite understand that.
10:11 Don't tell me this is the first time you have seen the blog changed from the thread. lol
No 11:14 it's not the first time but this is a real stretch. I think some people are just trying to cause some serious problems.
11:48 How would it cause problems talking about where the KKK was founded. Most people in Giles County aren't happy about it, but it's history. You must of been the one thought it was formed in Georgia first. If so guess that did cause you a problem.
Are you going to blame that on WAB?
1:27
You really shouldn't stay out in the sun for very long periods of time. You seem delirious.
7:39 Is that the best you can do.
1:27 must of stepped on your toes.
9;08
Not at all. I was simply trying to figure out why that person is so delirious.
delirious - definition of delirious by the Free Online Dictionary ...
www.thefreedictionary.com/delirious
1. Of, suffering from, or characteristic of delirium. 2. Marked by uncontrolled excitement or emotion; ecstatic: delirious joy; a crowd of delirious baseball fans. de·lir ...
Anyone else feel talking about where the KKK was formed is delirious?
Don't see how that would cause a big problem with anyone except the one thought it was in Georgia.
Have a good day Mr. Christian Gentleman.
9:36
Look, I have already acknowledged that I was mistaken about the Georgia KK, so what is your problem? Perhaps YOU have been out in the sun too long? I'm just saying.
Haven't seen the sun lately, staying inside, to hot out.
What is wrong is your cute remarks you think. You just can't say anything without trying to be smart or cute.
I didn't think it was Cg that thought the KKK started in Georgia. Thanks for showing it was you.
I would still like to know how talking about where the KKK was formed will cause serious trouble.
I wish it had been formed somewhere else, but it wasn't.
I heard there was a trapped door in the building that was tore down where the kkk members could escape.
anyone know anything about that?
9:08 I think I did step on his/her toes.
I think it was his head you stepped on.
Is the sign still up on the building about the formation of the klan but turned around backwards so it won't make anyone mad. LOL
I don't think so. Maybe you can ride by and see, then let us know. lol
I heard cowards had it took down for a sovereign.
Was the sign on the building that was tore down?
Do we still have all those terrible marches in Pulaski?
The sign is still there and is still turned around so that you cannot read it.
They should leave it until black people learn how to act in a civilized society.
It's history and we can't change it as much as we would like to. The KKK wasn't only against black people. They may have started it to scare them, but the beating was done on white me than didn't support their wife and family like they should.
The KKK was started to defend against the carpetbaggers and lawlessness that they brought to the south. Part of their actions were to discipline those who decided to step out of the lines of decent behavior whether black or white. That KKK was disbanded after a few years because the problems caused by the federal government sponsored carpetbaggers had gotten better. The KKK that followed was and is the racist group that focused on blacks, Jews, and Catholics. Are you aware that during the civil rights movement of the sixties that much of the KKK's funding came from the federal government through the FBI, CIA and other government organizations?
is it possible to get this back on topic and answer the question, why is the county paying so much of the insurance cost when practically everyone else is having to struggle with the increase cost of insurance?
Does it bother any of you democrats how Obama and Hillary Clinton have lied to the American people about Benghazi? What about the IRS Scandal? What about the others that the news media doesn't mention?
