Giles Free Speech Zone

The purpose of the "Giles Free Speech Zone" is to identify problems of concern to the people of Giles County, to discuss them in a gentlemanly and civil manner, while referring to the facts and giving evidence to back up whatever claims are made, making logical arguments that avoid any use of fallacy, and, hopefully, to come together in agreement, and find a positive solution to the problem at hand. PROBLEM READING POST AFTER ABOUT 200 ENTRIES

I read a post where a reader was having trouble viewing the latest entries on some threads. What happens is after 200 entries are posted the next 200 go on a different page. At the top right and the bottom right in blue letters by the number of post entered you can see the words "newer" and "newest", if you click on "newer" it will take you to the second page where the latest post are located. Hope this helps. Allen Barrett

Should There Be Term Limits For Committee Chairpersons????

Commissioner Lee raised the question at the last Commission meeting about the appropriateness of commissioners staying on the same committees year after year.
This especially appears inappropriate when a county employee is able to decide the budget that puts money directly or indirectly into their pocket.
Would the county tolerate a commissioner pushing to have new sidewalks put around the square then allow that same commissioner to set aside the money to pay for those sidewalks then allow that same commissioner to have their spouse bid on the project, of course not but commissioners are allowed to be school employees or have spouses work for the school, set the budget to include pay increases then take the money while saying there is no conflict of interest.

It's past time for this matter to be changed, Term limits should be implemented for committees and no one should benefit financially either directly or indirectly from their votes on the commission. Allen Barrett

Say It Ain't So Joe, Say It Ain't So

It seems that the former County Attorney Scott Spear is now an agent for the corporation Ice River Springs. Does this mean a new effort will be made to incorporate the Spring at Campbellsville into a money making development for Ice River?
