Giles Free Speech Zone

The purpose of the "Giles Free Speech Zone" is to identify problems of concern to the people of Giles County, to discuss them in a gentlemanly and civil manner, while referring to the facts and giving evidence to back up whatever claims are made, making logical arguments that avoid any use of fallacy, and, hopefully, to come together in agreement, and find a positive solution to the problem at hand. When Is Blackmail Not Blackmail?

Here's the situation you decide what to call it.
When the county budget was made and approved it was decided that an additional $5,000.00 for a new secretary's position would not be funded. Now some seven months later the person in charge of that office says that unless you give him the five thousand dollars he wants he is going to do something that will cost the county over sixty thousand dollars.

Now that may sound very petty and like a threat from an immature child but it comes from an elected county judge. The message was presented to the Budget Committee this week by a spokesperson for the judge. I quote the spokesperson, "If the judge don't get the money for his secretary, he's going to close down the drivers school".
