How to Deal With Unwanted Information!

This morning after more than two years of research and attempts at getting information about the insurance situation in Giles County Commissioner Wilburn present information that was incredible in it's clarity and sordidness. Every county that he had approached was co operative in giving information about their insurance programs except for one..... Giles County has refused to reveal information that is clearly covered by the Open Records Law. Why do they refuse to release the basic information about the premiums being paid for insurance? Why is this county paying hundreds of thousands of dollars for the very same coverage with the very same companies that Lawrence County is when Lawrence County has more employees, more vehicles, and more buildings? Why is Giles County the only county in the entire state that is paying premiums to an agent instead of to the insurer? Why is Gilles County the only County that is paying out hundreds of thousands of dollars based on not an invoice but a note on the back of an envelope?
Now the bigger question is why when all these questions were asked immediately the motions was made by Commissioner Holt and seconded by Commissioner Campbell who was sitting in for the ever absent Commissioner Terry Harwell, to adjourn with out any discussion? Thankfully Commissioner J. Harwell spoke out and helped defeat the motion. The County Executive very angrily expressed that she "didn't know anything about what they were even talking about" and denied having involvement in withholding the information. This was a direct denial of something she has been actively involved in and is the primary obstacle to the information being given to the commissioners. When will Giles County wake up and realize incompetence and ignorance and dis-ingenuousness will no longer be tolerated and demand accountable from elected and appointed officials?
