County Insurance
After more than a year of behind the scenes work by some County Commissioners and private citizens a new County Insurance Committee has been established and the ground work has been done to cut the cost of county insurance by almost $750,000.00 a year without any decrease in benefits.
So how can such an enormous savings be realized, simply by having all the insurance bid out. Why this hasn't been done in the past, well, your guess is as good as anyone else. It seems through a process of laziness, incompetence, kickbacks, the buddy system and lack of concern no one with the authority ever took the initiative or had a strong enough will to do anything.
Thankfully that seems to be changing with this Insurance Committee and their strong recommendation to bid out insurance. Allen Barrett
