Bonus For Classroom Teachers???
In May Mr. Jackson moved $75,000.00 from one area of the budget into a new line item identified as 72310 299 “other fringe benefits” when this was questioned by Judge Lee and others Mr. Jackson stated it was for possible insurance. He was then told the school board insurance committee had turned down his request for new life insurance for volunteers. Mr. Jackson stated they were still considering obtaining the insurance.
Good news for teachers because of the pressure applied by several people it seems that now the plan is to use the $75,000.00 to give classroom teachers a bonus this year, and you thought no one in the big chair loved you. You earned it.

Ghost Staff
The school system on Friday 30 May had seventeen central office staff members not counting the eight clerical staff members. Can anyone explain how it is that the reports going to
Another Bonus??????
Why was Mrs. Ferguson given a $5,000.00 payment to retire? How many “classroom teachers” get a $5,000.00 going away present?

School Positions Opened Or Closed?
Were jobs filled at the school system before anyone even knew there was a vacancy? Jobs include asst. principal at GCHS and two positions to replace Mrs Ferguson. Those positions are being filled by none other than Ms. McMasters and Cindy Young wife of school board member Mike Young. Are these positions really necessary after all there are still two assistants to Mrs Ferguson already?
Is Mrs Young qualified for this position, probably. However the real question should be, based on the way this was done, is this a pay back for all the favorable votes board member Young has cast for Mr. Jackson? Why was Mr. Young’s daughter given tenure after being turned down just days earlier? Is she deserving of tenure, probably but again the way it was done leaves many smelly questions to be answered. How did the school system go from one person doing the job of Supervisor of Instruction to having four people do the same thing with approximately the same number of students?
